@RudyGoldberg8 @Embowaf @LinkofSunshine I don't think you understand. Once LLMs like Claude or ChatGPT are trained on a dataset, they are static. There is no trial and error after that. The model people interact with is static.

@Embowaf @LinkofSunshine why do you retards keep saying this?? genetic algorithms using seeding and editing memory values is literally what humans do… basic trial and error reinforcement. thats like saying the smartest guy on the planet doesnt “learn”. i mean sure maybe if ur frontal lobe has swollen??

@Estril01 @WhickTv Candace Owens said Hitler would have been fine if he just stayed in Germany. It doesn't get much more explicitly illiberal than that.

@WhickTv Left and Right Populism overlap on many issues. As far as I know Candace isn't a nationalist so its not as cut and dry as you might want it to be.

@BrookeBrandtjen @MadsPosting It's the opposite. More developed and economically prosperous countries tend to have lower birth rates. Underdeveloped countries tend to have higher birth rates. Unfortunately, people have found other things they'd rather spend time doing, and it is an economic burden.

@MadsPosting it’s crazy that one of the only ways you can improve birth rates is just by making people feel good. it’s incredibly simple yet countries all across the globe struggle to do so.

🧵Republican presidents are terrible for the economy, and have been for decades. Let's run the numbers. First, the unemployment rate has gone up for every Republican president since WW2 except Reagan (and fell for every Democrat but Carter). 1/

@politics_w_sami So the recall legislation you are proposing would automatically trigger if someone switches parties or becomes an independent? Or is this separate? I'm not 100% sure how I feel about recall petitions. It seems abusable, e.g., California, Alberta. Maybe it depends how it's done.

@not_devo That’s where recall legislation comes in. If a constituent disagree with that MP’s decision to sit as an independent in order to join another party before the next election, then voters who disagree with that decision can create a recall petition

@politics_w_sami The reason it's unenforceable is that a "floor crosser" doesn't have to actually switch parties. They could just stay with their current party or sit as an independent, and vote as they want. They could wait until the next election to officially join the other party.

Having a recall legislation in place or an automatic referendum that gets triggered when an MP crosses the floor would still give MPs the opportunity to exercise their best judgement, while voters would be able to have their say potentially heard as soon as possible on very significant decisions that MP decides to make.

@politics_w_sami It's not perfect, but I think it is healthier to have a system that allows each elected representative to exercise their best judgment, rather than enforcing homogeneous voting blocks.

@politics_w_sami They were already elected by their constituents and will be in the next election. I get the sentiment but: 1) We elect individuals in our system, even if many prioritize party 2) It would be impossible to enforce 3) I wouldn't want to concentrate that much power in party leaders

Both Peltola in Alaska and Brown in Ohio need their states to have an electorate that is slightly more favorable for Dems compared to 2024. Peltola only needs an electorate ~2.5% more favorable. Brown ~4%. That seems….likely (Or at least extremely plausible) in a blue wave…?

Blue state Dems pushing for tax cut-maxxing are basically arguing their expanded public services aren’t worth paying for and if you’re a high income household you’re a chump for living in those states. Even as an Atlantan I find that kind of offensive.

Preliminary @TaxFoundation estimates for Senator Booker's standard deduction proposal: it would reduce federal tax revenue by $6.3 trillion over a decade ($493 billion in 2027) and provide the largest boost to taxpayers in the 40th to 90th percentiles.
