I'd been applying for jobs for the entire year and a half I worked at the previous place, and got two interviews and the market has closed up (firing white guys, hiring foreigners).

He didn't choose to be assaulted. He didn't say "This is where my gunfight will be." The man who attacked him chose to do it there.
