Most private voting in all of crypto!
Every vote is a private snapshot of your zcash balance. We use pir to get this snapshot.
1 zec = 1 vote
Each vote is mpc encrypted, and split up so that your balance can’t be leaked if mpc got broken.
Final result is publicly auditable

We’re adding Zcash coinholder polling in @zodl_app with the first poll targeted for June. Soon, anyone using Zodl will be able to share their opinion on the direction of the Zcash protocol by voting their coins. The voting protocol will also be available for integration with other shielded ZEC wallets. @theblockprof Anything that has utility *apart* from its use for exchange: commodities, securities, etc, aren’t money. Money is special in *lacking* that other utility.
So crypto is definitely money.

There's no defense to timing attacks, other than *storing* your money shielded for a long time.
@zooko has been making this point for yrs, & I've occasionally argued with him about it (seemed like clever randomization schemes may be psbl). But I've come around, in part due to AI

How NOT to use Zcash: ▶️ Shield a large amount. Split it into 3 equal withdrawals. Send them all to the same address within 2 hours. This pattern appeared on-chain. 81 ZEC entered the shielded pool. Shortly after, 3 withdrawals of 27.0002 ZEC each went to a single transparent address. The shield didn't help. Identical amounts, tight timing, one recipient, that's a traceable pattern even without seeing inside the pool. If you're going to use the shielded pool, use it properly: ▶️ Don't withdraw in equal chunks ▶️ Don't reuse the same recipient address ▶️ Don't rush, time is your friend ▶️ Keep your ZEC shielded The shielded pool protects you. Predictable behavior undoes it.

@wholisticguy @jswihart @bajpaiharsh244 @Gemini, for example, will let you withdraw your funds to a shielded address. That should be the norm, and I would discourage anyone from using a service that does meet that bar.
