NYC, the Knicks are heating up and so are we. The heat index may hit 100 degrees today and tomorrow. We may also see severe thunderstorms, heavy downpours, and winds strong enough to down trees and power lines.
  These conditions are extremely dangerous.
 Here’s how to keep you and your neighbors safe:
 Seek air-conditioning. The City is activating hundreds of free, public cooling centers across the city. Find one nearest you, including accessible and pet-friendly options, by visiting nyc.gov/beattheheat or by calling 311.
 Recognize the signs of heat illness. Call 911 immediately if you or someone you know has hot dry skin, trouble breathing, rapid heartbeat, confusion, disorientation, dizziness, nausea, or vomiting.
 Call 311 if you see a homeless neighbor in need of assistance. Outreach teams are activated citywide to help connect vulnerable neighbors with safe, cool spaces. 
  If storms hit, go indoors. Use caution while traveling. Stay out of basement apartments.
  Drink lots of water. Wear sunscreen. And check in on your neighbors. As always, sign up for emergency alerts: text NOTIFYNYC to 692-692.

Great news New York! With the Department of Finance, we've extended the deadline for our bin reimbursement program. Eligible households have until September 7th to apply for the bin reimbursement program. As a reminder, all NYC buildings with 1-9 units must put their trash in an official NYC bin as of June 1st, with no fines being issued until September 8th. All information is available at bins.nyc

@NYCFinance Pretty frustrated with the NYC Department of Finance I received violations tied to a temporary Florida plate that EXPIRED on October 10, 2025 — yet the alleged violations occurred in November and December 2025 in New York on a completely different vehicle. I already mailed documentation proving: • the temp plate expiration date • the vehicle tied to the plate • that the violations occurred AFTER expiration Despite that, I’m still receiving collection-style notices demanding payment. I understand mistakes happen with automated plate readers, but consumers shouldn’t have to spend hours correcting errors tied to expired temporary tags that clearly could not belong to them at the time of the violations. Just looking for this to be reviewed fairly and corrected. I've never even driven in NYC. I live in Texas. Bought a car and had it shipped to Texas. Had the license plate in FL. I keep getting these ridiculous violation notices. Saying they're going to take action against me.

We recently seized more than 1,000 pounds of unregulated, illicit cannabis and tobacco products - valued at $10 million - from an unlicensed storefront in Bayside. Illegal cannabis storefronts continue to threaten the safety of our communities.
