EN: URGENT STATEMENT
In the early morning hours, our colleague was taken from her workplace to a police station by officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), against her will. At the station, she was led to the basement premises, where an “informational interview” was initiated by two uniformed officers and one individual in plain clothes.
She was handed a document of unknown content and threatened into signing it. When she refused, physical and psychological torture ensued. A uniformed MUP officer slammed her head against a table with full force, splitting her eyebrow. She was then struck with a handgun in the hip area. After that, one of her hands was tied to a radiator, while the other was left free so she could sign the paper—something she again refused to do.
She was not allowed to make a phone call, nor to contact a lawyer or her family. While she was tied to the radiator, the physical and psychological abuse did not stop. After some time, she was released.
Several days after this attack, outside her office at her workplace, our colleague found the severed head of a Barbie doll painted red. Such threats indicated to us that her life was in danger.
Out of fear for her own safety and the safety of her family and loved ones, she could not go public.
After the first attack, a second followed.
The second attack occurred in the evening hours. She was assaulted on the street. A black bag was placed over her head and she was forcibly pushed into an unknown car. Inside the vehicle, unknown individuals slapped and beat her, tore her clothing, and touched her inappropriately. They demanded information about the blockades and protests, threatened her, threatened her colleagues, and said they would suffer the same fate as she did.
We call for an urgent response from all responsible individuals and institutions. We demand answers as to who did this and the names of the perpetrators. We demand that those responsible for these crimes be held accountable.
We demand justice—immediately.
