The Royals make millions in profit each year, but this has always been shrouded in secrecy, until now. A joint @C4Dispatches and @thetimes investigation reveals that the King and Prince William are receiving public money through leasing property to public services like the NHS.

Kemi Badenoch is genuinely one of the nastiest, most divisive people in British politics. That she’ll now have the platform of leader of the opposition is a deeply worrying result, and a depressing insight into the gutter from which she’d govern.

@implausibleblog I remember how the Labour Party in the 1970s wanted to kick me out of my Catholic grammar school and dump me in the local cesspit called a comprehensive. So much for social mobility.

Wow, this is powerful from Carol Vorderman 👏 She talks about the poverty she lived through during her upbringing, and how the opportunity for social mobility in the 80s was much better then, than it is for those in poverty today Could this be the reason why so many were swayed into voting for Boris Johnson under his levelling up campaign, unaware that the media that failed to protect society from Johnson's lies, deceit and duplicitous behaviour, were used as a vehicle for Johnson to seek power for shameless self enrichment and greed Leaving those who dared to hope with the humdinger of a reality check when funding after Brexit was actually cut to the regions, whereas before Brexit, a foreign institution, The European Union, cared more for those in poverty than those gesticulating in the Westminster bubble for power and influence

@leaveitahhhht @OwenJones84 @AdamBienkov ‘Labour had initially committed itself to resurrecting the inquiry, under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn, but ditched this pledge at the end of last year.’ So a Corbyn policy, repealed a long time before the election… ‘refuse to deny’ is classic nonsense journalism.

This is absolutely incredible. It was reported that Starmer did a deal with the Murdoch empire not to complete the Leveson inquiry in exchange for an endorsement. The brilliant @AdamBienkov asked Labour spokespeople. They refused to deny it. bylinetimes.com/2024/07/23/lab…

I pay the highest rate of tax I'm 40. I can't buy a house I scrape to even pay London rent The state gives me NOTHING Yet new arrivals get social housing, child benefits, don't work, and thank me by burning buses and trashing the place. And on top of it all, for the tens of thousands I put into the system every year, the hundreds of thousands I have paid over the course of my life - - I'm not even allowed to talk about it. I am gagged. I'm ignored. And yet, year after year, they turn to people like me to keep shelling out I'm done

@ThatAlexWoman @PaulDuddridge Can the State have all the money back spent on your birth, education, energy infrastructure, any time you may have used the NHS, the training costs for teachers who taught you, the defence costs for maintening your safety. Think not what your country can do for you…

This is how it's done. This should be required viewing for the American press -- who are still engaging in bothsidesism, balance over objectivity, and false equivalencies. This is how you conduct an interview with a serial lying sociopath like Kari Lake.

@tiinaligema @BladeoftheS No, it's attacking the judge. The big picture of the judge is a clue. Also, the lack of any mention of the fact that the Panayiotous pleaded guilty to the crime with which they were charged, which has a massive effect on sentencing. The JSO people didn't.

Judge Christopher Hehir sentenced non-violent protestors to 4-5 years in jail today. In 2014 he let George and Costas Panayiotou go free after an unprovoked assault on two police officers that left one needing a titanium plate in their skull. Their father had £400m, disgraceful

@gerardjasper @BarristerSecret @RobertJenrick Ok so you have three levers; 1. Increase population and tax take through skilled (EU?) migration 2. Increase the age people can access the state pensions 3. Increase inheritance tax and put it into social care You have to choose one….

@oldbiged1982 @BarristerSecret @RobertJenrick okay we increase spending and guess what the markets go into freefall like they did with Truss and you alarm the population because historically Lab have not managed the econ well. AI might rescue our economy to some extent but Lab will fail on immigration and the 💩 hits the fan

Worth noting that @RobertJenrick was a member of the government which defunded every part of the criminal justice system, including prisons, and ignored years of warnings that the prisons were close to overflowing. Any criminals “let off” have been let off by his government.
Robert Jenrick@RobertJenrick

The British people did not vote to let criminals off scott-free. Far from being “unburdened by doctrine”, Starmer is unburdened from what British people want. We must unite and fight back. My latest in @Telegraph 👇 telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/07/0…

@Nigel_Farage So 0.4% have left (2023 there were 2,500,000 millionaires) and of those, how many are non dom status and do not contribute any tax to the U.K? Not sure this is even statistically significant. Meanwhile the super rich get richer (and thus contribute more tax..)
