Has anyone checked in on Chris Joye lately? Judging by his furious retweeting in recent weeks, including of bot accounts and obviously insane people, he appears to be having some sort of mental breakdown

@claudedwalker @respeculator Norway actively socialised the downside risk by funding exploration, through the SDFI system, and through tax refunds (not just offsets) for exploration losses Which of those do you think Pocock is proposing?

@respeculator @claudedwalker Your comment about Lytton makes the point perfectly. Someone should make a cashflow graph showing the jobs they saved versus how much they made each year

Can’t see the post but don’t bother talking to these communists mate. If the government were to invest tax payers funds into the development of natural resources instead of grotesque payments to the NDIS and green energy projects that yield zero return then maybe the country would be in a better place. But private money has kept the refineries running and the gas flowing and the country running. Go look at Ampols results for the past 10 years. How much money did they burn keeping alive Lytton? Go see the ballache Santos went through in the courts to battle greenies on the development of Barossa. $6bn and 6 years later and have zero revenue to date on that project. Lotta risk… pretty simple.. keep the risk as is (no govt backstopping losses) and cap the return (“windfall taxes”) and economics will work its magic and the country will be even more fkd.

@claudedwalker @respeculator If we are taxing windfall gas profits this year, how much should we have ponied up in extra cash last year, when half the LNG projects in Aus were running at a loss?

@claudedwalker @respeculator theguardian.com/australia-news… This is a demented, unjustifiable, and radically regressive idea that belongs in the pages of the laws of a banana republic, not Australia. It is populism of the worst kind. Our national prosperity is built on the backs of these industries

@NavigatorSaint @ACapitalLP Absolutely not, this $26 figure is total bullshit and it’s very weird he’s still repeating it. They’d get maybe $20 a share max if they broke it up themselves over a year or two. It’s worth maybe $12-15 to a vulture/raider. Still lots of upside but it ain’t going to $26

@ACapitalLP Is there any way they actually get $26 NAV out of it as a forced seller though? Granted their assets are not really AI impacted which could be a tailwind to PE firms needing to deploy dry powder

Reports that Iran is now approving all foreign ships for passage through the Strait of Hormuz, excluding Israeli and US vessels. This is subject to a fee being paid, per ship, to Iran equivalent to $2m but payable in Chinese Yuan.

Yet another commodity guy
So far we've had Chinese, Iranian, but also Indian, European owned ships transit Hormuz under the new reality. Even GCC linked ships. Basically everybody seems to be able to transit except US and Israeli linked flows. For a fee, of course. As I said before, this is the actual bearish development.
Amena Bakr@Amena__Bakr

The strait is not closed, but the passage of vessels is tightly controlled by Iran and vessels need to seek permission before passing #OOTT

Get ready for another day of 1% swings by headline. Trump says talks ongoing, Iran says that he’s lying and no talks are taking place. This is the hopium rally to delay until troops arrive in the region. Then we get the next leg down.
