If Hamas can still do one thing with a shred of morality, just one act that doesn’t deepen the shame of everything they’ve done, it should be to release every remaining Israeli hostage immediately. That is, first and foremost, a moral obligation. No cause on earth justifies keeping civilians locked away in tunnels while a nation burns above them.
But beyond morality, this act might also stop some of the bloodshed. Gaza is already in ruins, its people crushed under the weight of this war. And Hamas keeps handing the Israeli government one excuse after another to keep the fire going. Every day those hostages remain captive, every day weapons are fired in the name of “resistance,” is another day this war is prolonged and more Palestinians are sacrificed.
If Hamas wants to be remembered for anything other than destruction, tyranny, and dragging an entire society into hell, then let it end here. Release the hostages. Drop their weapons. And, for once, put Gaza before power.

That sounds entirely reasonable to me, though. Islam is an idea. Ideas can be criticized and renounced. But the problem here is Judaism is not just an idea, it’s an ethnic group. Zionism is an expression of its self determination. Asking Jews to renounce it is cruel.

Let me put it simply: terrorism is terrorism.
Don’t dress it up in academic language. Don’t “contextualize” murder. If you want justice, you have to speak honestly first and that starts with calling things what they are.
In the UAE, we didn’t hesitate. We were the first Arab Muslim country to clearly condemn the October 7th Hamas attacks.

Hamas is the armed wing of the Muslim Brotherhood and we’ve banned that group completely.
Yet in some Western cities, Hamas isn’t just tolerated but its defended.

Islamist extremism doesn’t always come with a gun. Most of the time it comes with a smile, even a law degree, and a top notch microphone. It talks rights.
