Is anyone still using VS Code instead of switching fully to Claude Code or Codex? Or am I the only one 😅

I bought a MacBook Neo as a little portable laptop for dev stuff... How do Apple people put up with this OS? I feel like I'm using a LeapFrog with a faster cpu

@ai_for_success for me personally working with it is a blast, counter to your post, did you actually tried setting the reasoning level higher than medium which is i believe default for those models in the settings ? github.copilot.chat.responsesApiReasoningEffort

GPT 5.4 and GPT 5.3 Codex in VS Code are trash. It is definitely not a model problem. I have run much more complex tasks in other editors with the same model. If it were up to me, I would never use VS Code for agentic coding.

AUTOPILOT 🚀 in @code insiders today! autopilot works until tasks are complete + we've added easier access to auto-approve permissions!

@pierceboggan @its_just_chen @code Its not really working right now, while it does approve commands it does not continue till task is done like on the cli counterpart yet from my testing.

@burkeholland @techSage @GitHubCopilot i thought shift + tab switches the agent just fine ? Unless you are talking about switching models ? we can just ctrl + x and than /models to switch them ?

@pierceboggan @code And that's why I never regret switching from other IDEs back to VS code, always delivering, always listening to community, truly one of the best experiences you can get, magnificent.

VS Code is the best UX for managing your coding agents! Give the latest features in @code a try in Insiders. What can we do to make it even better?
Pierce Boggan@pierceboggan

New in @code Insiders: dedicated agent management UX with "Chat: Open Agent Sessions Window". The UX for managing your agents is here in @code :)

@Michal_Krsik @opencode from my observations yes you can see it clearly when using models via opencode with the sidebar token/% windows usage

@orkuhq @opencode Does that hold true when using it via opencode? I imagine it is the client that sets these things.

OpenCode can now officially be used with your Github Copilot subscription with the $39 pro+ subscription you get access to the best coding models wonderful to see them support open source and user choice of tooling in this way

@burkeholland @alimerttusat for me personally the copilot extension settings are confusing as hell in insider settings, it would be nice to have better description of them, what they affect, subcategories etc, i have no idea what half of them do, and its a guessing game.

My impressions about Github Copilot: Copilot is a great deal. $10 for access to modern AI coding help. Not better than Cursor as an IDE, but absolutely one of the best choices you can make. Copilot + Opus is a great deal

@quiet_node @enunomaduro @opencode You can use api keys, providers you already use, subs from (codex, claude code, github copilot) or add credits to their opencode zen provider where there are couple of models not only closed source, with this you only pay api prices mostly at discounts and there is no markup.

@enunomaduro @opencode Curious do you need all API keys for each model you use? Or opencode has a set of models like other IDEs? What does the pricing look like btw?
