OI While BTC open interest on HL is $2.3B, Phoenix sits at just $2M (around 1000x smaller) But context matters: Phoenix is still in closed beta HL needed around half a year to reach a TOTAL of $10M OI and almost a full year to hit $100M 2. Fees - Phoenix Opening/Closing: 0.035% (Taker) - HL Opening/Closing: 0.045% (Taker) For commodities, HL fees go up to 0.09% (Taker) That means Phoenix is at least 20% cheaper on roundtrip trades. For commodities, it can be up to 6x cheaper while funding rates stay relatively similar 3. Spread Phoenix already has some of the tightest spreads on Solana at around 0.011% HL is still roughly 10x tighter with spreads around 0.001% That said, slippage on Phoenix is currently much higher too 4. @toly bull posting Phoenix Jeff and Xulian cold dmed hundreds of people, promoted HL in NFT Discord servers, and more There’s nothing wrong with being a salesman for your own product or ecosystem I respect both Jeff and someone like Toly, who could literally spend all day drunk somewhere in the Bahamas but still chooses to push Solana builders So what’s better currently? Obviously HL (and yes, I love HL) Lower fees are nice, but these things matter more: - liquidity depth - spread quality - latency - order book resilience - user retention - trading tools, etc. Phoenix is still in baby shoes. You can’t expect a protocol in closed beta to operate at the same level as HL already And competition is healthy for the space If you genuinely believe in crypto and mainstream adoption, do you really think there will only be one perps platform? Every major industry has multiple winners And I believe Phoenix has what it takes to compete with HL in the coming months or years In the end, this was never really about fees themselves It was about how effectively you can market and generate maximum engagement for the underlying protocol And judging by the reactions… it worked

hyperliquid:native Looks like a local top here but price is now in a large range between $35-50. Expect us to remain here for awhile whilst we re-accumulate. On a forward looking fundamental basis I expect HYPE to push 3 digits before summer 2027. Based on fundamentals alone Hyperliquid has never looked more promising as a category leader against Ethereum and Solana.

I’ve been following Hyperliquid since pretty early on, and recently it feels more obvious that they are no longer just a strong PerpDEX. With the latest updates, especially HIP-4, @HyperliquidX is showing a much bigger ambition: to become a general market infrastructure layer for many types of assets. It has already become the benchmark in the PerpDEX category, but if it only stays in perpetual futures, the growth ceiling eventually becomes limited. – Hyperliquid has clearly pulled ahead in the PerpDEX battle, even though names like @aevoxyz, @dYdX, @Lighter_xyz, and @Aster_DEX are still meaningful competitors – Similar to Google after dominating search, Hyperliquid may also realize that focusing on only one vertical limits the expansion path – Onchain derivatives are moving toward removing intermediaries and creating markets that are open 24/7, programmable, and directly composable with other primitives → Hyperliquid seems to be moving in this direction. > HIP-4 is one of the most important recent updates from Hyperliquid, focused on Outcome Markets. You can think of it as a combination of: Prediction Markets + Binary Options + Bounded Options. The biggest difference compared to @Polymarket or @Kalshi is that: On Hyperliquid, prediction markets can be brought into the same trading stack as perpetuals and spot! For example, you could short $ETH perpetuals while also opening a position on an outcome market that says “ETH will trade above X level”. FYI: 14% of top traders on Polymarket have been present on Hyperliquid, and these wallets have created over $1.43B in volume on Polymarket and $189M perp notional on Hyperliquid. This makes HIP-4 more interesting, because event-driven trading can sit closer to perp/spot liquidity instead of being isolated as a standalone prediction market. > Hyperliquid is also expanding into traditional markets. – After HIP-3, Hyperliquid is no longer just a venue for crypto perps. It is becoming a “market factory” where builders can launch many new types of markets – Within HIP-3 markets, activity/OI has already started moving toward tokenized stocks, commodities, precious metals, oil, and indices like the S&P 500 – With HIP-4, they continue to expand to binary options and bounded options for many types of assets: forex, stocks, indices, commodities,... – @tradexyz has also launched Pre-IPO Perpetuals, starting with Cerebras, opening up a type of capital market that previously existed mostly in private secondary markets with very poor liquidity > The real goal of Hyperliquid is probably not just to become the biggest PerpDEX. I remember their founder @chameleon_jeff once said: “Hyperliquid is not a crypto company”. In my view, they are trying to become a shared infrastructure layer for many financial markets: – Perpetual futures – Prediction markets / Outcome markets via HIP-4 – Pre-IPO perpetuals via TradeXYZ – Commodities & traditional assets via Ostium, HIP-3 – Recent 21Shares HYPE ETF listed, 1 step closer to Wall Street – And possibly Standard Options in the future through HIP-5 or HIP-6 I think Hyperliquid can become an important part of the infrastructure used by both crypto traders and traditional traders.
