@eytanseidman Moreover, it would be great to connect the app analytics with managed pricing. For example, when a certain app plan is tied to a sales metric, the managed pricing can automatically suggest merchant a plan upgrade when sales limit for a plan is exceeded

Enabling apps to fully utilize Shopify analytics capabilities is going to be a huge unlock for merchants and will be great for developers as well. Can't wait to see how it gets utilized!

@jzazove I’ve contacted partner support and the agent said archived reviews cannot be appealed. What is going on and why is there so much controversy? Very confusing and concerning the way how Shopify deals with the reviews.

We know changes to your reviews can be frustrating, especially when they affect your rating.
If you've noticed changes since our announcement, that's expected. We recently updated how we evaluate the trust of reviews and reviewers, and it's not a reflection of your app. Fake reviewers often spread reviews across many listings to appear legitimate, which means some genuine apps may see reviews unpublished too.
Reviews are evaluated continuously, so their visibility could change as trust is established, and we're constantly evolving and improving our trust criteria.
For appeals, you can contact direct Shopify support with a list of reviews you want to appeal and we will review them.

Shopify pulled 15,521 app reviews today. The old record was 3,944. Last week I posted that the purge had started. I figured it would taper off by now. It didn't. It's run about 4x normal for nine of the last ten days straight. Today it went to 30x. Reviews pulled per day, across every listing I track: The two weeks before July 6: 513Since the announcement: about 2,060Today: 15,521 across 2,962 apps Anyone else getting hit?

Well, Shopify just deleted 50% of my app's reviews. 😑
Real reviews. Fair reviews. Reviews I've worked so hard for.
It's crazy how there are apps full of fake reviews, and somehow we're the ones getting fuc*ed.
Shopify, you've done a really BAD job this time.

Hey Dmitri, my main motivation when I joined was not to feel alone as a developer.
When I would face a problem or want to ask a question, having other people who are also in the same boat supporting and helping is really important.
There are app developers, theme developers, and freelancers in the community, and everyone supports each other. And we also learn a lot from each other's experiences. But to get the full benefit, you should engage with the community.
As a bonus, we also organize really cool in-person events. Last year it was cool to meet with everyone in person.

Yesterday Shopify released new policy on review incentivization. They also improved fake review detection. 🙏
Although, the main problem everyone has is not the lack of policies but proper enforcement and punishment. We should see a lot of reviews in the App Store removed shortly. 👀
Btw, here's another case, straightforward $40 for a review. 😂

Thanks for flagging this, Erikas. We genuinely care about this and we're not ignoring it. There's work underway to tackle exactly this kind of thing. Can't share timing or specifics just yet, but it's on our radar and being actively worked on. Keep the examples coming, they help.

Shopify is still not punishing bad actors.
Just look at this case. This developer (Hoppy apps) removed their banner after getting called out. Their reviews growth flattened out. Then they readded the banner again but this time they outsmarted Shopify compliance by hiding the banner for the development stores and collaborator accounts.
One community forum member (Ollie_autoblogger) noticed this and reported to Shopify again with all the evidence. And guess what, all of their apps are still active and ranking high, with all of their reviews intact. All they had to do is remove the banner again. Until they find a new way to trick the system, I guess.
I'm afraid ignorance from Shopify could lead to app developers taking action themselves which would turn into fake 1-star review wars and App Store losing its' credibility.
We deeply care about App Store and the current state of it is very unsettling, I know a lot of folks in the community feel this way as well.

How to get rich in Shopify App Store in 6 months: 1. Create a single-feature free Shopify app (feel free to copy some popular app). 2. Use only keywords for your app name, no branding. 3. Farm reviews in the most shady way possible (see attached screenshot for inspiration). 4. Get the Built for Shopify badge somehow anyway. 5. Once the app reaches the top of the rankings, introduce pricing. 6. If executed correctly, $10K MRR is bare minimum. Apparently the worst thing that could happen, app gets delisted for couple of weeks and you're told to get rid of these tactics, but by that time you will probably have hundreds of 5-star reviews and great ranking in the App Store which gets you organic growth and you can work it from there. This company has been doing this among all of their 8 apps since February and their reviews/rankings skyrocketed. I'm pretty sure they're getting thousands of installs every month now. They already rank #1 for some keywords so I'm sure monetization is just around the corner 😅 @ShopifyDevs @liam_at_shopify @atleeclark I think it's becoming very clear that we need much stricter policies, especially with hundreds new apps published every week. 🤷🏻♂️

This is exactly how corruption spreads and for me this is the worst part. If good-intentioned builders see this, they will think, "Oh, if nothing happens to them, and they outsmart and outperform everyone, what's the point of me being honest? Let's use the same practices to grow"

@fraxool The quick revenue generated by review farming outweighs the risk to the business. Without review farming, they don’t have a legitimate business in the first place, so they have nothing to lose!

Calling out a scammy company called @semrush which does not let you cancel your account
Purchased a membership just a few hours ago and I don’t like the product.
I would go for a refund but there is no option and at least I want to cancel my recurring payments so my card doesn’t get charged next month
They make you go through a whole process and at the end they make you confirm by e email
You never get that email.
Same scammy behavior like they did two years ago.
Now I will pursue getting my money back because I am pissed on these scumbags
