Don't take my word for it. Just listen to our users. @SelfServeApp works! Тhank you Andreas Müller and emma & noah for choosing us! They are using SelfServe's upsell features in a very creative way which boosts their AOV, but I'll leave that for a separate post. :)

Don't believe the: Ecom bros teaching you how to make 10k sales in 1 month. Finance bros teaching you how to make 100k on the markets in 6 months. Fitness bros teaching you how to get to 10% body fat in 3 months. Crypto bros teaching you how to retire on memecoins in 8 weeks. Productivity bros teaching you how to build a second brain in 90 days. Real estate bros teaching you how to buy property with no money down. AI bros teaching you how to replace your entire team with AI by Christmas. Sales bros teaching you how to close every cold email with one weird subject line. Learn these things yourself by doing the boring work and failing 100 times. No one can teach you how to do anything. Only failure can.

This Shopify app was clearly buying fake 5-star reviews and then didn't pay someone, so they got spammed with 1-star reviews instead which tanked their rating to 2.9 🤣 I have no idea how it passed through Shopify review approval system and got published. Anyone else feeling the new review purge coming? 🤣

The moat was never the code. It was the person on the other end remembering your name, knowing your store, and being there in eight months when you need them. The code got easier. The bar got harder. Most of these new apps won't make it 12 months.

When something breaks at 2am, no merchant is messaging an AI. They're messaging a human who picks up, stays calm, and ships a fix while they're losing their mind. AI doesn't do that. AI doesn't show up. AI doesn't give a shit if your business survives.

@Shopify app founders are panicking about AI cloning their features in an afternoon. Cool. The panic is aimed at the wrong thing. Apps might be coded by AI now. Businesses still aren't.

Monday observations. You must be doing something right if a public company doing $100,000,000,000+ (as in 100+ billion in revenue) reaches out to you. 🚀

@DavisPaipa They were quite stringent in the early days. Now it's the wild west, I really hope they crack down on these grifters looking to make a quick buck. It really hurts the true Shopify Partners looking for long-term growth on the Shopify App Store.

Early days. I built a Shopify store for a merchant (store still exists). He left me a 5-star review while using my app. Shopify wiped 70% of my reviews because they assumed I built the store just to farm reviews - not for an actual client. If that was the rule for me, it's the rule for everyone. App stays live, reviews back to zero, start over. Penalize equally or don't penalize at all.

How to get rich in Shopify App Store in 6 months: 1. Create a single-feature free Shopify app (feel free to copy some popular app). 2. Use only keywords for your app name, no branding. 3. Farm reviews in the most shady way possible (see attached screenshot for inspiration). 4. Get the Built for Shopify badge somehow anyway. 5. Once the app reaches the top of the rankings, introduce pricing. 6. If executed correctly, $10K MRR is bare minimum. Apparently the worst thing that could happen, app gets delisted for couple of weeks and you're told to get rid of these tactics, but by that time you will probably have hundreds of 5-star reviews and great ranking in the App Store which gets you organic growth and you can work it from there. This company has been doing this among all of their 8 apps since February and their reviews/rankings skyrocketed. I'm pretty sure they're getting thousands of installs every month now. They already rank #1 for some keywords so I'm sure monetization is just around the corner 😅 @ShopifyDevs @liam_at_shopify @atleeclark I think it's becoming very clear that we need much stricter policies, especially with hundreds new apps published every week. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Customers say they want personalised, thoughtful, human service, then they spend an hour researching on social media, so they don't have to talk to anyone. Your support team is not lazy. Your customers are.

They used to track this diligently; even if you sent out emails to your merchants asking explicitly for a 5-star review, you would get banned. But with so many apps flooding the app store, it's really hard to maintain the same level of diligence. But they will crack down on them, just a matter of time.

@AudemarsPiguet Piguet x @Swatch dropped the Royal Pop. A pocket watch. In 2026. Eight colorways. $400 retail. Queues outside London Swatch stores from Wednesday onward. Three days after the reveal, Golden Concept had a full wrist case accessory line live on their site. Eight colorways matched to the Royal Pop. Professional photography. Pricing. Press release. CEO on the record. The watch wasn't even on sale yet. Golden Concept never did this with the MoonSwatch in 2022. Never did it with the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms in 2023. This is the first time they've moved on a Swatch drop. And they moved in 72 hours. LFG!!! 💪 The product doesn't ship until August. Doesn't matter. The press, the SEO, the social proof, all attached to them already. You don't need to ship in three days. You need to plant the flag in three days.

We shipped a small thing that's actually a big thing. Or let's say that @delyan_peev did. @SelfServeApp Editing & Upsells now lets you put upsells on the Thank You page. I spoke with a merchant, and he said that he doesn't want to use the one-click post-purchase pages because he thinks they are too intrusive. The Thank You page catches everyone. Every customer. Every order. The exact moment after they've clicked pay. It is also the second-highest-converting upsell surface. If you're on SelfServe, it's already in your dashboard. If you're not on SelfServe and you're running a Shopify store with more than a couple of orders a day, this is roughly the highest-leverage 20 minutes you can spend on your post-purchase setup this month.

@Seanfrank Defining what "winning" actually is first is the most important thing. Winning = helping or being useful, at least for me. My soul compels me to help others by building useful products. But by any means... You should never care if you're cool or not in others' eyes.

If you want to win so other people think you are cool, you will have a hard time If you want to win because you are angry and mad and want to change the world, you will have a better time If you want to win because your soul compels you to win, you will have the easiest time

Starting today, I'm challenging myself to stop using AI for my social media — no more shortcuts, no more crutches, just me and my own voice. It's not just about writing — it's about reclaiming the discipline of original thought. In a world drowning in AI-generated content, authenticity isn't a buzzword — it's a superpower. Let's go. 🚀

Why do most brands wait until they're drowning before they hire? By the time you post the job, write the JD, screen 40 applicants, and make an offer, you've lost 3 months. We keep a bench of people like Yvette just for you.... Excellent retention marketer candidate based in Mexico City. Available to interview this week. Designer and developer with 10+ years building email campaigns and running eCommerce for US-based clients. She's done production work for Samsung and PayPal, built HTML5 email templates, managed eCommerce at Amazon. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Shopify, cross-platform testing, the works. She trains clients and hands off work that doesn't need to be touched again. If this is a role you've been putting off, I'll make the intro.
