It is time for the United States Postal Service to ban junk mail. Unsolicited spam calls are already prohibited by the FCC. Emails are heavily regulated by the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. Junk mail is the majority of mail, 100 million trees per year. Enough!

personally, I think we can resolve these things using a similar mechanism to the one that pauses wire transfers over $10,000 for investigation to check if they are related to money laundering. We should allow people to make over $1 billion, but once they hit the $1 billion threshold, they have to be subjected to a complete audit of all of their businesses and investigations of their working practices for meeting standards of business ethics and labor laws. If somehow miraculously they come through that cleanly, they can keep their $1 billion. (but none of them will come through that cleanly)
Alan MacLeod@AlanRMacLeod

Counterpoint: you cannot ethically earn a billion dollars, and billionaires should not exist.

@bjnpck AI says - 1991: Upon declaring independence in June 1991, the Slovenian government immediately identified "European integration" as its primary foreign policy objective. They saw EU membership as a way to secure their economy and solidify their status as a Western democracy.

🇹🇷🤝🇷🇴 strategic partnership goes beyond security in the Black Sea, alliance in NATO, bilateral defense cooperation and defense industry. It is also about building together. Sibiu-Piteşti is a great example. A very important highway. For Romania and for Europe herself. Boița-Cornetu section, Lot 2, is the most difficult part. Only mountains. 7 tunnels, 49 bridges and viaducts. All one after another. Noone wanted to do it in the beginning, other than now 193 🇷🇴, 257 🇹🇷 (+ 80 other) engineers, technicians, foremen, operators, drivers, mechanics, support staff, and of course tea boys, under Mapa-Cengiz consortium. They surpassed a milestone this week by getting through the first tunnel. They work around the clock. They will finish and deliver. No PR, just work. Proud about the contribution of our builders to 🇹🇷🇷🇴 relations. And also happy Europe Day to all!

DR (the Danish Broadcasting Corporation) has interviewed Cliff Stanley from Nevada, who over the past two days has attracted major attention in Nuuk after offering 200,000 dollars in exchange for support for making Greenland American. He plans to remain in Nuuk until May 19, when the special U.S. envoy Jeff Landry — independently of Cliff’s trip — is planning a controversial visit to the Greenlandic capital. And if it turns out that Greenlanders — contrary to his expectations — have no interest at all in becoming an American state, he says he already has a backup plan. “I will do my best as a human being. To give them this, if they want it. And if they don’t want it, that’s okay. Then I’ll just go to Canada and see if they want to.” —DR

@RyanSAdams No Ryan, "you" are not. Seriously. This narrative might be in your interest, but it is not true. That existence of that possibility does not solve for any known stringent problem.

Stablecoins are not an efficient way to strengthen the international role of the euro, says President Christine @Lagarde. The best solution remains deeper capital market integration through the savings and investment union and a stronger safe asset base ecb.europa.eu/press/key/date…

@A_Leutenegger @ecb @Lagarde hey. Can you tell me what part of the Savings and Investment Union you do not like? Why is it not a good idea to have the trillions in savings invested in public markets and innovation? Is EU selling its innovative startups the the US the winning strategy?

@kempsterrrr The money is a socio-economic tool. The government / central bank governs over it. In terms of resistence or resilience, the options are limited. But they are by far not stablecoins since they do not fall outside scope. Localized economies: credit, currencies, barter, hard assets

The issue for me i the EUs approach gives them to much power. Cash is good because I can hold it and the government can do anything about that. With CBDCs, the risk surface for control and surveillance is greatly expanded from where it is today. If private companies are the issuers, whilst they can still freeze etc. this layer of separation has value in my opinion as at least there's an opportunity to oppose a request to censor/freeze/sanction. .e.g. in a competitive market for stablecoins, you might have one issuer comply with a an Orwellian move by a government and another refuse or at least fight back. If the government has route keys to all money then how does anyone resist?

Today in examples of how politicians do not have your best interests at heart. Something stated as fact that when analysed objectively on it merits is simply not true. It's protectionism > progress.

@kempsterrrr ECB is controlled by the EU Parliament, but independent. Same as BofE? Digital Euro is cash equivalent. There is no freeze. The limits are potential issue. Large cash payments are already quasi-illegal. Companies can't contest sanctions/court orders. Stablecoins are v vulnerable.

@lior_eth Capital markets union is bullish. Crypto bridge (pontes) is bullish. She is partially right, commercial bank deposits are system liabilities. Still, major banks have Stablecoin projects and they have been growing.

Europe is running itself to the ground through over regulation, unwillingness to embrace innovation, and a remarkable lack of courage & leadership. They’re literally running away from money.
