@caraathome @bikingdallas How does remove 25% of the agencies funding make them better? Would removing 25% of the City's funding make them better? Would removing 25% of your income make you better?

@bikingdallas Wanting a well run transit agency isn't making it worse, it's literally making it better. More money for DART isn't the answer, maybe less executive bonuses? It will be interesting to see what happens next.

Wake up Dallas - you pay a full cent of sales tax for DART with ever-increasing fares. Ft Worth pays 1/2 of a cent for transit & gets a FREE downtown circulator. DART has a bloated budget that has massively increased while ridership has decreased.
Downtown Fort Worth@DTFortWorth

💙 All aboard! Trinity Metro’s new Downtown circulator, the BLUE LINE, launches today — offering free rides every 7 minutes, from 7 AM to 7 PM, 7 days a week through Downtown Fort Worth! Learn more here: bit.ly/3HnFSGC

@caraathome @TheJevil2005 DARTs rail trips are longer than most urban systems, it functions more like regional/commuter rail. So of course trips per rail mile are lower, of you calculate passenger miles per rail mile the system preforms much better.

@TheJevil2005 DART ridership is at 80% pre-pandemic and it was really low pre-pandemic. For rail, it is the lowest ridership per rail mile of any major system.

@caraathome I'm pretty sure the city of Ft. Worth is paying for a portion of the downtown circulator. If the City of Dallas wants one they are more they free to contract with DART for a "free" circulator.

how did we swing from “random normal people should have their lives ruined forever because they tweeted something dumb ten years ago” to “guy who explicitly demonstrated a Nazi worldview a few months ago deserves to be one of the most powerful people on the planet”

50%+ of young kids say something stupid online in their youth today This is down from 100% of boys in schoolyards in the 1980s — when we didn’t actually have a permanent record (even though they told us Tele did!) Write an apology, say what you learned since then and get back to work

@nisten @lauriewired all rust foundational libraries have problems because they use unsafe rust to do things at the hardware layer that rust cannot do safely. It makes the whole idea of using rust pointless at the kernel level.

Texas A&M will limit the number of new undergraduate students it enrolls to 15,000 annually for the next 5-7 years as one of several initiatives aimed at "right-sizing" the College Station campus, Welsh announced Thursday. thebatt.com/news/am-to-lim…

@menglish8286 @TheBattOnline No. Legacy status in admissions is an anti merit signal. We want the best students, regardless of their family background. Signed a 2nd generation Aggie graduate.

@Rafamonsta @maxdubler Finally! Evidence! I think single family housing is good for when it’s time to have kids but for people in their 20s it’s not good

@maxdubler What zoning laws? I ask every day but I’m never given 1 example. Just complaining. It’s hard to rally people to your side without any shred of evidence

Every week, I see a new study talking about this or that effect of GLP-1 receptor agonists like #ozempic. FINALLY, we have a study evaluating all the outcomes (good and bad) in one dataset. There are some... surprises. 🧵

Pardons are Reversible as they are outside of precedent. 👉Those pardoned have not been charged with any crime. Pardoning someone in advance is an illegal precedent. These pardons are a misuse of power and should go under review by the Supreme Court to decide the outcome. Otherwise Trump and anyone in his cabinet could commit any and all crimes and be pardoned upon Trump’s exit. If that seems ridiculous…that’s because it is and Supreme Court should see it the same way.

Check out Biden’s signature on his recent “Executive Grants of Clemency” (Pardons). These are publically accessible on the official Justice Dept. page. Biden clearly did not sign these. Now look at his signature for his son, Hunter, in the next post.

@typesfaster What is going to boom about Lower Manhattan now that all the people are gone? Congestion may be effective, but not in the way you want.

Mind-blowing how effective congestion pricing is. Lower Manhattan streets remain completely empty. It's an important lesson to remember: how price-conscious the typical consumer is - a daily $9 fee changed the entire landscape of NYC. Lower Manhattan is going to really boom now with all the honking and congestion cleared out.

@TheTexanRhino Yep, the reason most rail projects are successful is because they're more likely to be given dedicated, grade separated right of way. The rail projects that are given less grade separation are less successful.

@MattForner @jaredpolis PR has nothing to offer the U.S. in return for statehood. It’s in massive debt, & rife with corruption with a 3rd world power grid. Greenland is strategically located & rich in minerals & likely oil Greenland makes much more sense
