@DinaPomeranz @jstreetdotorg My emphasis was on US public opinion for Swiss policy decisions. If it's about general Jewish public opinion, let's ask the almost 46% in Israel. However, I believe our Swiss political system can represent its citizens well enough without taking cues from J Street's poll.

@patzko @jstreetdotorg c) Whether or not Jewish public opinion should matter for Swiss discussions on funding UNRWA is indeed an interesting one. Insofar that it does matter, it seems important to have representative data. About 40% of Jewish people in the world live in the US. Have a good night!

A clear majority of American Jews are in favor of funding for UNRWA. This is also relevant for current policy debates in Switzerland.

@DinaPomeranz I agree with you that they are tricky. That's why representing them as facts doesn't make sense. Unless for a point where you have a predetermined outcome in mind.

@patzko a) As I said, exit polls are tricky. The lowest national estimates I have seen were 66% (from Fox News), but also some above 80%. Exit polls don't collect demographics to reweight respondents by their democraphics to reflect overall (in this case Jewish American) population.
