@_PeterRyan @compactmag Clarification: I think it's an error to state / imply that the P2P Foundation is where Satoshi "announced" the original whitepaper. It was certainly released to P2P Foundation, but I think that was weeks after it was originally announced. Is that correct?

Bill Gates says scaling AI systems will work for two more iterations and after that the next big frontier is meta-cognition where AI can reason about its tasks

Amazing that our free press is neglecting to mention scientists now agree conditions on Earth will become so harsh in the next decade or two it's most likely humans simply won't be able to adapt. 🧵

@RichDecibels I'm consciously aware that some of my behaviours (e.g. some social posts) are triggered by a need to counter-balance with alternatives the social permission / social amplification of views expressed by others Pondering is it's *anti*-socially permissioned, or internally gen'd?

@huseyinkishi @manjusrii It's a weird defence of generally terribly made kitch "stuff" Typically a green 'n yellow themed assortment of plastic hats, plastic over-sized sunglasses, plastic disposable cups and plates, etc. All made offshore, mostly non-recyclable I fail to see any relevance.

They will fly Indigenous and Australian flags alongside each other “despite” the coalition’s boycott. As though flying indigenous flags is an inflammatory or controversial act. What year is this, 1952?

Counterpoint: struggles with discipline have a strong emotional component. Work on goal setting, accountability, momentum, achievement, but stay conscious of the inner work that supports it. This is why I believe in coaching that goes inside-out.
Autism Capital 🧩@AutismCapital

@matt_vanswol In our opinion a large amount of the people who claim to need therapy actually need discipline. Their problems are self imposed because of lack of discipline related characteristics: goal setting, accountability, momentum, achievement, etc. Self esteem is built though achievement

@PaulQuixotic @chriswaterguy Agree with your comments @PaulQuixotic. If you consider the Lutherian protestant "christian" work ethic of 16th century, "work" was how entrance to heaven was achieved. In some ways, todays obsession with GTD, "busyness", and "goals" is the modern western "work ethic"

@chriswaterguy It's a strange idea that modern humans need "achievement" in order to be 'fully self-actualized' or smth. How did people in the stone age get by? What goals did they set? How did they maintain momentum, and how were they held accountable?

@chriswaterguy I concur on embodied cognition and / or ingrained social-interaction norms It quite rapidly move from funny to awkward (I think we collectively lasted < a minute) before we ended the ordeal

@paulzee Fascinating – I'm surprised it was that stark. Sounds like embodied cognition, which I mentioned applies to all of us to different degrees. (I'm using the term loosely and would love to know the latest understandings. I know the Amy Cuddy power pose research didn't replicate.)

The greatest gift you can give a partner (or anyone else in your life) might be your own emotional self-regulation. A great example is communicating your emotions. I found this extremely hard 15 yrs ago, my dysfunction being for my voice to freeze in the face of conflict. 🧵

@chriswaterguy Agreed Not to trivialise / demean: I've a fond memory of good-naturedly teasing a Spanish colleague with the challenge to express how he felt about a topic that clearly mattered to him without moving his hands / arms A little surprisingly for both of us he was lost for words

@paulzee Absolutely, and thank you. High context cultures can provide a lot of scripts for social situations, including for conflict, and it helps a lot to know what cultural scripts the other person might be running. As you found, we can get there but it always takes time & intention.

@WillScuderi OK. What am I missing ? Over the past 4 years, I've run multiple external, lightweight, USB / Mini HDMI connected multi-point capactive touch 11 - 15" screens. They've become widely available from numerous vendors and the price has dropped quite low. So ... what's the hype?

@testertested Sadly, that's not really a new problem @testertested: writing clear, unambiguous requirements for software has always been challenging. For me, it's disappointing to see how those problems continue to persist.

I love the way people are writing requirements these days. Here is a classic one in 2024 from an airlines website in India When a passenger during checkin deselects the free seat to select a paid seat and doesn’t pay but wants to select the free seat again they have to pay. 💰

@ClimateBen I suspect that's most likely @skdh's ironic, sarcastic humour. Because, really, anyone claiming that it's possible to understand capitalism is either joking, lying or deluded.

@RichDecibels Many parents of teens will recognise this pattern: often easier to check in on well being while side-by-side driving / walking somewhere, than a face-to-face inquiry over dinner / at the home doorway.

if you feel yourself going into conflict with someone when you'd rather stay in connection, step 1: physically reorient so you're not "opposite" them but "side-by-side". let the metaphor do the work for you

@teh_aimee The principles of liberal Western economic systems gamify those systems to encourage outcomes - both intentionally by design, and unintentionally through poor design I agree the design also provides opportunities to game the system, thou my points were about inherent outcomes

@teh_aimee The "Pharma Bro" Martin Shkreli's, Dick Sadlers, etc of this world are the most visible of the broad reaching metastatic cancer in a system that has been increasingly rendered unable to withstand the ongoing assault The sad thing is it's business-as-usual for shareholders profit
