Men have an innate knowledge of what it means to be created in God’s image. No matter what the surrounding culture tells them, they have an inner sense of what it means to be a good man.
In 1990, anthropologist David Gilmore conducted the first ever cross-cultural study of concepts of manhood—and he was surprised to find virtually all cultures share an ideal of the good man.
Being a modern American, Gilmore began his study prepared to discover that everywhere “masculinity is self-serving, egotistical, and uncaring.”
But as he traveled the globe interviewing men in diverse societies, from Europe to Africa to Asia to South America, he was amazed to discover that virtually all cultures regard manhood in terms of a “moral duty.”
The details of how that duty is defined differ from culture to culture, of course. But the common theme is that “Manhood is about doing your duty to others … and honoring your social obligations despite all odds and regardless of personal cost.”
For example, modern Americans often treat work as an arena for individual achievement and self-fulfillment. But in most other cultures, Gilmore writes, what counts in men’s work is “sacrifice and service to family needs… The worker’s reputation as a citizen and a man is closely bound up with clearly defined service to family.”

@Roaring_T_Rex @Jeff1Early At least usually, modern speaking in tongues is indistinguishable from gibberish. Van Til also made statements like, God is one person and three persons, and "we shun as poison the idea of the really contradictory we embrace with passion the idea of the apparently contradictory."
English

@Jeff1Early Okay. He didn’t speak in tongues.
So what’s the joke or point?

@Soteriology101 I was first introduced to Calvinist concepts 30 years ago. It never sat right with me. In the last couple years, I've had more real life conversations with Calvinists, and I have not always had satisfactory answers, I started watching Leighton Flowers, and it has been a blessing.

@ProvisionistP Based on past experience, the probable counter will be there are two kinds of wants and two kinds of hates, so this passage doesn't apply to their philosophy. 🙃
In science it's called multiplying epicycles.

@BenZeisloft @Eschatology22 If he had paid attention while reading the Old Testament he would've realized the high priest did not wear pearls. Seriously, how is generic rich woman's clothing the same as the high priest's?
English

@Eschatology22 Yeah I concluded years ago that Revelation just tests whether or not you paid attention while reading the Old Testament
English

@Eschatology22 Exactly?! Does this sound like a description of the high priest's clothing "The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls"? Generic rich woman.
Plus no white linen, no blue, but has pearls.
Exodus 28 & 39 vs Revelation 17:1-7

@GigaBasedDad I'm a premillennialist, though not dispensationalist, but keep in mind virtually all evangelism to Jews is done by serious premillennialists. And the command of the Great Commission is to go to all nations, including israel.
English

@residentreformr @Acts7253 Yes, read the whole chapter "And Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of the Lord, that he had done for Israel.""

I called The Trevor Project b/c that's what LGBT influencers told me to do. They were nice at first, but when I started talking about what was actually wrong, the hormones, the blockers, my depression, they got very quiet & then they hung up on me, a suicidal child @JonniSkinner

@yazref3or @ProvisionistP There may be people who hold that, but I travel Christian Zionist circles, and I've never met one who does. They do think Israel is Israel but that they have rejected their Messiah, are involved in Jewish evangelism or supporting it, and support for Israel is not no matter what.
English

@pcjohn316 @ProvisionistP That the state of Isreal is literally the same as the Isreal in the Bible so Christians have to do everything in their power to support it no matter what.
English

Didn’t this guy start off as really based?

@yazref3or @ProvisionistP What do you mean by whole zionist shilling?
English

@pcjohn316 @ProvisionistP Not defending him, but the whole zionism shilling aspect of it probably is.

@TruthCop1717 @CadenJCooper @grcastleberry Where does the Bible make of no effect the word of the Lord from the prophet regarding salvation?
If God's doing it, as you say, why isn't he commended or condemned?
And if there's no free will, why are you trying to convince me to change my mind? By your reasoning, I can't.
English

@pcjohn316 @CadenJCooper @grcastleberry What God tells you to do is NOT an affirmation of what you are able to do.
It is about what you will either be commended for - if you are/will be saved, or what you will be condemned for if you are never saved. By God, not yourself.
It is NOT about free will.
It does NOT exist.
