My team, myself & @camhigby were just violently assaulted on Skid Row, my camera crew were punched in the neck and face, we were pepper sprayed, but thankfully just escaped. Some members of our team had to run 10 blocks to get out. We were in the heart of Skid Row confronting the petitioners who @Savsays and my team caught on tape illegally offering drugs for ballot signatures. She stayed silent for six decades because she believed the truth would damage the farmworker movement she helped build. The federal monument remains in place. The Medal of Freedom was handed to the woman he raped. More than 70 schools and 35+ cities still bear his name.

We had one of these for a while near the Civic Center BART station and it was a disaster. Thankfully they shut it down. In response to Twitter leaving San Francisco he tried to gaslight everyone that Mid-Market post-Covid was doing just fine and even experiencing a resurgence, mocking @elonmusk as he left. So many businesses, not just Twitter, have shuttered on Mid-Market where drug dealing and open air use still goes on daily. It probably has the highest vacancy rate in all of San Francisco for this very reason. Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, the ENTIRE San Francisco Centre mall, the Gap, Old Navy, Whole Foods (an addict died in their bathroom), not just X, but the entire eco system around X, including the supermarket that was in their lobby, Uber, Block, Reddit, Equator Coffee, so many restaurants including a sushi place that had been there over 28 years — so many businesses have fled that area. They had to put up a fence around the Federal building there to try and keep the addicts out. Scott Weiner is pro-drugs and has been a disaster for San Francisco. He’s been in office overseeing the destruction of our city for over 15 YEARS now. Under his leadership San Francisco has gotten worse not better. I was disappointed to see that @garrytan who I very much admire was supporting him and hope Garry reads Dan’s article. Now Wiener is trying to take Pelosi’s seat in Congress. San Francisco deserves better. @MHurabiell is a FAR better sensible centrist candidate and I hope she wins. Take a minute and read Dan’s article below. Dan was running for this congressional seat himself but recently dropped out to endorse Marie in the election.

Assemblymember @MattHaneySF today announced AB 2017, a bill in the CA state legislature that will officially designate Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as state holidays. For the hundreds of thousands of Californians, and the nearly thousand Muslims in the Tenderloin where I represent, this is an important moment. A moment where our culture, religion, and values will be represented in ink. Because our Muslim families, workers, children deserve to be recognized just like everyone else. Next week, I will be introducing a resolution in support of AB 2017 at the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to formally endorse the proposal.
