@jonwalker121 @northumbriana We're very proud of how beautiful our city and surrounding coast/ countryside is. We like to keep it quiet, but also like it when those from outside of the area compliment it.

@GallowgateEnder @ChrisDHWaugh @NUSCuk @GeorgeCaulkin We might have been offered 12m. But it would have cost double to sign someone half as good and even then they'd sign knowing they were 2nd choice to tino. Made more sense to keep hold of trippier and spend elsewhere.

@ChrisDHWaugh @NUSCuk @GeorgeCaulkin Yeah, there should have been a phased approach to the 'rebuild' I think, instead of having Trippier, Burn (?), Schar and Pope all still key players on the wrong side of 32/33. We were offered 12m for Trippier not long ago!

@_SamStorey @TyneSnapper @TWhitleyBay1 Yeah but probably only the market for one of those places over the coast. But who knows, just need some entrepreneurial spirit and good music taste and who knows what could happen

I’m still so disappointed that there are no plans to refurbish the five-storey Cornish granite towers. They were designed as warehouses by our old friend Robert Burns Dick but the floors were never put in so they’ve stood empty for nearly 100 years. chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-eas…

@MsiDouglas @premierleague The 'Super league clubs' are going to end up tying everyone in knots to try and protect themselves. All financial rules have been put in place to protect their interests.

🤔 I think it would be hugely helpful if there was much more transparency around PSR, SCR & UEFA's rules and how they're applied. #cfc losses are eye-watering. Genuinely interested to know how they've passed PSR (and they did, because no breaches were announced by @premierleague for this season). We all know what the regs and rules are by now. But it's time for the publication of what club's SCR figures are, what their squad costs are & where everyone stands. Without it fans are left mystified by what their clubs can do in the transfer market. Who is this game meant to be for anyway? Supporters or the increasing number of accountants and lawyers you need to cope with the bureaucracy?

Guinevere's Dialect. Gowk. Yes, an apple core in dialect. However it's also Northern English & Scottish for both fool and a cuckoo. An April Gowk is an April Fool. From Old Norse gaukr.

@Logan14Cameron @byernysern @LukeEdwardsTele Because we lost those games. I've had a season ticket for 36 years. I've heard booing at games even when keegan and robson were doing well. Unfortunately some fans think they're at a pantomime.

@pd_lynch @NUFCThreatLevel I did think about the big ginge….but then remembered him getting binned by Keegan for laughing at his own teammates on camera after we conceded a goal. 🤣🤣🤣

I think whichever goalkeeper is in goal for Newcastle United in August, he’ll be backed until he makes his first mistake. Then it’s a spin of the wheel, people demanding another random goalkeeper starts. Forever and ever and ever and ever…. The Greek lad! Remember him?
Bob_Helpful@Bob_Helpful

Ramsdale vs Pope. Reality is probably neither are good enough to be a starting keeper for a team with ambitions of getting into Europe. The £25m price tag for Ramsdale would be poor use of limited funds #nufc

This is probably the first time in years we’ve had real goalkeeper concerns. We’ve been very fortunate as a football club to have a steady pair of hands between the sticks for years now. Srnicek was a bit erratic with crosses but a tremendous shot stopper on his day. Hislop was decent. Given was legendary. Harper was a steady backup. Krul had a decent few years. Elliot was a solid enough backup. Dubravka was excellent and Pope’s been outstanding until this season.

@Trystanian @JHCPAL There'll be a direct correlation between people who say 'lartay' and people who say mum! Most likely people from jesmond, gosforth and tynemouth

@JHCPAL I've noticed something recently which might interest you. There seems to be a division in Newcastle between how people pronounce Latte. Some say it like "lartay" with the "a" sound as in "far"; others with "a" sound like in cat. I wonder if there's a sub accent going on

@pd_lynch @JHCPAL @TyneSnapper I know that either the person tagged or the last person to the post, tree or whatever was next “on” Wasn’t the idea for the person who was “on” to guard the post and the others to tag it before the guard tagged them?

Yes...⬇️. Skinchies. OED - in children's games : a term used to call for a truce or claim temporary immunity. 1st recorded 1894. Northern English. I'm sure we used to say "skinchies , no returnees", though when & how I cannot remember. It was a long time ago !
jilltowers@jilltowers

Have you ever looked into the word “Skinchees” (no idea how it’s spelt….) Meaning crossed fingers 🤞🤞 That’s how I’ve always said it but I expect there’ll be regional variations @JHCPAL 🧐🤔

@silverhills64 @JHCPAL @TyneSnapper Nah, we called it blocky. If you were 'on' and found someone you would run back to lamppost and shout 'block 123 <name>'. If you were hiding and thought you could get to lamppost first you would make a run for it and shout 'block 123 free'.

@lee1892Johnson The reason he didn't give it was probably cos he thought if it was a penalty then VAR will pick it up. But then this report is saying it shouldn't be a VAR decision. Madness!
