Brilliant line: "Success is determined by your ability to: - Speak - Write - Have good ideas In that order." Explains why so many people with very bad ideas (refuted by every experiment) can nevertheless be seen as successful: they can speak well...

In 2019, MIT professor Patrick Winston gave a legendary 1-hour lecture called “How to Speak.” It has 18M+ views for a reason. His frameworks: • Your ideas are like your children • The 5-minute rule for job talks • Why jokes fail at the start 15 lessons on communication:

Hi, I'm sorry to check in again. I'm still trying to get together the cash to cover Uber on Monday morning for my Social Security Disability interview. I'm getting a little nervous about it. If y'all wouldn't mind sharing the pinned Tweet, I'd really appreciate it. @Sleeping0x @ylecun This has nothing to do with war. The war doesn't help! You're a really stupid person. Stay on topic. The debt is coming at us, and it will hurt when it does. I said BOTH, you dolt!

@Sleeping0x @ylecun It was not a fix. You don't get it, hence you point to stuff that doesn't matter. There is a major fix neither party wants to confront, one that will be forced upon the nation because of both parties' inaction. Stop with the silliness and confront both of them.

@peritutvivat @ylecun Bitch ass centrists like you are the reason the situation is this dire. “Oh both parties are doing x or y” we dont give a fuck, isolate democrate vs republican presidencies and see which ones helped the country more. I criticize dems heavily but let’s not pretend theyre same

@peritutvivat @oldmanblue777 @ylecun If you aren't "stupid enough to think this wasn't going to eventually happen" and still voted for him, you are about as stupid as it gets. I don't believe any of them, but this is the most blatant lie any president has told the people on the campaign trail.

It's been messed up. You pointing fingers shows you don't understand. That's the stupidity in thinking it's only one side. Both sides need to fix this, like immigration reform, but they both ignore it. But keep acting stupid as if liking someone is required to point out the facts, something you can't deal with. You have brought up stupid issues about the TDS you suffer from.

@peritutvivat @ylecun It absolutely matters. Even from the bleak perspective you gave. Many folks voted this conman in because of the empty promises he made to boost is superior “businessman” persona. His campaigning was explicit on what he was going to do. What a disaster.

Terence Tao on AI in Math. AI can synthesize a million papers and brute-test ideas. Humans can check just 5 examples and see the pattern. But as systems move toward world models, causal reasoning, and active learning, this efficiency gap will narrow.

Erwin Schrödinger’s 1926 equation turned quantum mechanics into wave dynamics. Instead of tracking a particle by a sharp trajectory, you evolve a complex wavefunction whose shape and phase carry the physics.

🚨 Stanford just discovered that AI might be making humanity dumber at diversity of thought. Not because the models are bad. Because they're all thinking the same thing. The paper is called "Artificial Hivemind." And once you understand what they found, you can't unsee it. Here's the breakdown: Stanford researchers built a dataset called INFINITY-CHAT. 26,000 open-ended questions. Creative writing, brainstorming, opinions, life advice. Prompts where there is no single right answer and diversity of response should be maximum. Instead they found the opposite. Two patterns kept showing up: Intra-model repetition - Ask the same model the same question across different runs. It keeps producing nearly identical answers. Inter-model homogeneity - Ask completely different models the same question. They converge on strikingly similar phrasing, metaphors, and reasoning chains. This isn't a benchmark problem. This is a culture problem. And here's why it happens: Most frontier models train on overlapping datasets. They're aligned using similar human feedback. They're optimized with similar reward models. So when you ask GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, and Llama to "write a poem about time" or "suggest creative startup ideas" or "give life advice"... they don't give you 4 different perspectives. They give you the same perspective 4 times, wearing different hats. The researchers call this the Artificial Hivemind effect. And the real horror isn't technical. It's sociological. Right now, billions of people use AI to brainstorm, write, think through hard decisions, generate ideas, draft opinions. If every model converges toward the same narrow band of ideas... We're not just homogenizing AI outputs. We're homogenizing human thought at civilization scale. The scary part the paper highlights isn't that AI surpasses human intelligence. It's that humans slowly outsource their thinking to systems all trained on the same worldview and nobody notices the compression happening. The internet was supposed to give us access to infinite perspectives. AI might be quietly reducing all of them to one.

Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city’s values and the unity that defines who we are. What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are. I want to thank the brave men and women of the NYPD who acted quickly to keep New Yorkers safe. Our officers ran toward danger without hesitation, demonstrating once again the courage and dedication it takes to protect this city every single day. My administration is closely monitoring the situation and I remain in close contact with our Police Commissioner.

You don't know how a battle is fought. Anything affiliated with their military can be a legitimate target. Hence, there needs to be an investigation to determine why it was hit. Otherwise, keep bloviating nonsense. I'm sure the way they treat women over there, they'd treat you splendidly.

Pope Leo has rightly criticized jingoistic militarism but he is no pacifist, as he makes clear in this fine address in which he praises the nobility of the soldier’s calling. But that calling, as he says, is one of “service,” to “protect the weak” and “restore order.” It is not to treat the grave enterprise of war as if it were a video game, or recklessly to endanger civilian lives, or to rejoice in killing and in the expression of one’s libido dominandi. Those who promote this obscene caricature of the soldier’s calling only dishonor it. vatican.va/content/leo-xi…
