The idea that some typefaces are theologically representative makes complete sense to me. How many Baptist pastors print out their sermons in Garamond like I do?

Aside from the obvious hypocrisy in Alberry's situation, one of the worst aspects of the Alberry/Big Eva attraction to "same-sex attraction theology" was the gnostic denigration of marriage, leading them to pretend that the earthly good of marriage is largely irrelevant. It is framed as an "appetiser" which you can happily "skip" if you're lucky enough to be a SSAvangelical, giving you a VIP pass straight to Jesus. Those who spoke strongly against homosexuality in the Church were often castigated by evangelical platforms as being "unpastoral" in their approach. What about the pastoral fallout of situations like this? How many more "SSA Christians" are there out there subtly taught to lie to themselves rather than being led to full repentance and deliverance?

You are missing the point. This is not just about Alberry. It is about the Revoice-type theology that he was disseminating that was endorsed by his church and by TGC and those in Keller’s orbit that is dangerous to others in the exact same way it was dangerous to Alberry As a friend said to me when she learned the news, our theology cannot save us, but it can condemn us. This is why we fight against the world, flesh, and the devil, and that fight includes exposing evil.

This is a blockhead statement. This isn’t about saying “I told you so.” It’s about the fact that we warned the church this was a dangerous departure from Scripture, that it would lead to real consequences. And when we said it, we were treated like we were harsh, unloving, or theologically off. We weren’t. We were doing our job. We warned. That warning was ignored, dismissed, or mocked. This is the same pattern again. There are people who want to act like they’re more loving, more understanding, because they refuse to connect theology to behavioral outcomes. They’re not more compassionate. They’re just unwilling to do the hard work of pastoral ministry.
