It's 1 thing to quickly approve social housing projects like this in a high density neighbourhood. But it's another to quickly approve social housing projects like this on a leafy street lined with duplexes and small-scale multi-unit housing. Let's discuss storeys.com/vancouver-soci…

@michaelgeller @JasJohalBC @cbcnewsbc @VancouverSun Historically these two companies have dominated the healthcare facility construction space. Part of the reason for this is they are among the very few large builders who consistently ‘qualify’ for big projects.

@michaelgeller @MetroVancouver A ‘strike’ might be a necessary and not bad thing that will ultimately make room for a new breed of developers who are comfortable with lower margins in a regulatory environment that will only become more complex and demanding. The good old days are over. Gone.

Given all the forthcoming Building Code changes requiring 100% accessibility, combined with other electical & energy code changes, and increased @MetroVancouver & municipal fees, I heard tonight many major developers have decided to go on strike. They're not going to build in BC.

How many Mayors in Metro Vancouver use transit as their primary mode of transportation? And is it a good idea to give them more control over transit in the region? globalnews.ca/news/10390353/…

Quick, someone help me. Is there a word for real estate professionals who want increased housing density everywhere but oppose a 16 space daycare?

We desperately need the Province to overrule municipalities & gut their role in land-use planning if they cannot provide enough housing for our regions. We have a housing shortage & need municipalities to get out of the way for people to access housing. vancouversun.com/news/local-new…

@michaelgeller @VancouverSun Good summary. And for those who don’t know, transit-oriented development (TOD) theory preceded and laid the foundation for the ‘15 min city idea decades ago.

While @KenSimCity addresses a large crowd at @udibc and tells us how much he wants to see faster approvals I know I'm not the only one waiting for rezoning & DP approvals. He gets it. Now he has to change the 'culture' at City Hall.

@michaelgeller @WestVanDistrict @Dave_Eby 1/ When it comes to approving multi-fam res projects in DWV, M&C need to quit following the opportunity-based narratives of developers and lead through application of development regulations, guidelines and policies.

On Monday a good 1 FSR townhouse project was defeated at First Reading by @WestVanDistrict Council. The architect & applicant were not even allowed to present. Meanwhile at DNV I was given 3 minutes to present a proposal. These procedures are unfair. Changes are needed @Dave_Eby

The toughest part about city planning isn’t the the planning, the design, the economics, the public engagement, or the challenging, exciting complexity of cities. The toughest part is the politics of self interest.
