I saw a patient recently who had already been evaluated for a lesion that concerned them. They were told it was fine. It was not fine. It was an invasive melanoma. This is what happens when scope of practice becomes a policy debate instead of a patient safety conversation.

Today, Trump goes to Walter Reed. I'm sure we'll get an accurate report, which has probably already been written. We will learn again that the bloated, medicated, cognitively cratering insomniac is actually in perfect health, and his hands, ankles, skin, digestive tract, and gait in particular, are like that of a top Olympic athlete. He owes much of his enviable robustness and alertness to his ideal diet of cheeseburgers and diet soda, and his carefully measured disposition of non-stop rage, never being wrong, and avoiding reality.

There's a group of people in the USA who make less than $40,000 a year, and they consistently rally against raising the minimum wage because they think it would destroy the economy. They also rally against universal health care too. That's Stockholm Syndrome in a nutshell.

When I applied to medical school in 1996, lots of people (attendings, residents, some family members) told me the profession was doomed because of HMOs, longer hours, and lower pay. It's been 30 years, and medicine is still in demand, with excellent job security. Don't let the current fatalists get you down. The world will always need doctors.
