@birch3970 @OctopusEnergy Thanks. Just seems that it's taking longer than usual, but that explanation is pretty standard. I'm just telling people to be patient and that it could relate to the tariff change many people experienced on 1st May

@philippac72 @OctopusEnergy They told me the app costs are a beta feature and may take a while to update. Also offered to produce an interim statement

@OctopusEnergy what’s happening with intelligent go cost updates. Smart charging cost not updated since 29th April in app. Usually takes a couple of days?

Pedestrians have priority at junctions. This means that drivers should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross at a junction. Approach junctions with care, reduce speed, use mirrors and check blind spots. Let’s keep everyone safe on our roads.

@CentreLeft_ @g__j @DailyMirror @OctopusEnergy Oh no. I've just read the article and seen that my Tweet to Greg was included. I'm really frustrated. There's no context to the chat I was having with @g__j which took place at 1030pm where he was providing me with info which I was able to share with others and reassure them.

@g__j @DailyMirror @OctopusEnergy Aww thanks, it’s good of you to let me know you even saw my tweet 😊 I’m an Octopus customer with an EV I love so I get cheesed off when I see things that seem designed to deter ppl from getting an EV.

@kidd86 @OctopusEnergy There isn’t a six hour window. The schedule is always smart and will always be at off-peak prices. Until the six hour limit comes in. Then the only change will be that any charge beyond six hours will be at peak rate It’s still a smart schedule

Yeah, this is how it always was. Then they announced the maximum 6-hour window of off peak rate in 24-hours. Recently the app started scheduling a "smart" charge. But the start and end of the charge was at peak rate. With no option to limit to off-peak rate only. Kind of removes the "smart" element.

@OctopusEnergy is there anything smart about this charge schedule anymore? I'm on a granny charger. Seems less smart than it used to be. As a significant portion of my charging is now at non-discounted rate and there's no options in the app to only use cheap energy.

Hi Philippa - apologies for confusion... we briefly introduced them at the beginning of the conflict in the Middle East (when many companies completely withdrew fixed products) (it's very risky offering fixed products at times of such uncertainty) But they generally don't apply and won't currently on new fixed products Thanks for bearing with us as we try to help during very volatile times - the societal answer, more than ever, is electrification

Doesn't sound great, but just to be technical. Octopus Go is not a price capped tariff so it didn't move due to drop in Price Cap. It dropped due to the removal of some govt policy costs from energy bills (which is the same reason the cap moved but still they're separate). As its not priced capped and it is a variable tariff it is allowed to move the price as long as adequate notice is given. I'm afraid the only option is to ditch and switch elsewhere :(
Ken@ken_w_davies

@MartinSLewis octopus putting up their Octopus Go rates from 1st May even though they brought them down just weeks ago for the drop in the price cap? Doesn’t sound right.

@OctopusEnergy Thanks for the reply. Or course I understand variable tariffs. I’m querying the pages on your own site saying variable rates are reviewed every 3 months specifically - when will the next change be made given this is one month later?

@OctopusEnergy had an email about an increase in variable IOG rates from 1st May. Went to look at fixed - that page mentions variable rates are reviewed every 3 months. They last changed on 1st April (and not just by the govt levy change amounts) - what's happening?

@g__j Mixed messages from CS confusing people on FB. @g__j can you confirm that this is incorrect and that fixed IOG no longer has an exit fee? Thanks. Philippa

Hi Zak. We reduced our fixed Intelligent Octopus Go prices last Friday - while we can't guarantee what wholesale prices will do next, it's unlikely we'll need to update those prices in the next day or so. Our website will always show you the most up-to-date price when entering your details. The 6.9p is the IOGO variable rate and remains Britain’s cheapest stand alone EV rate if you did want to stay on that.

@OctopusEnergy after your email telling me my prices are going up already after 3 weeks.. to basically no ‘gov saving’ at all. How long do I have to fix in the rate you sent me? In the YT video states lowest EV charging rate. That’s not true as EDF is 6.9p, yours is now 8p.

That 3.49p off-peak rate on Intelligent Octopus Go (IOG) happened because we took the government’s recent levy cuts (about £130 off a typical bill) and baked them directly into those smart windows. For those on a variable tariff like Flexible Octopus, your price is protected by the Ofgem Price Cap, which is currently falling but at a different pace because it averages out wholesale costs over several months to avoid sudden spikes. Each tariff reflects a different way of buying energy, either locking it in early or following the market's "weighted average" under the cap.

@OctopusEnergy hi, I’m a little confused, since the levy from fixed tariffs meant some IOG fixed customers are paying 3.49p per kWh, why are the rest of us who stuck to your variable having to fund your losses as the orange mans war causes volatility in wholesale prices?

@Superhands132 @MartinSLewis @g__j So @g__j is saying they didn’t put up the price in April in which case we’re need a clearer explanation of why the variable reduction was less than the fixed reduction on April 1st

@MartinSLewis Firstly octopus only passed on less than half of the govt discount because they hiked prices in April at the same time. Now 2.5 weeks later they hike prices again extraordinarily with 10 days notice not 30 days like they’re supposed to. @g__j needs to be sacked.

@gsdev90 @g__j @MartinSLewis Clearly you’ve not read the full website. You are still being paid above the wholesale rate for export. You are also paid when the grid least needs it.
