Sent this email to the LNC re: messaging. Hello, The LNC has embraced the “Decentralized Revolution” rhetoric introduced by the previous LNC administration. From our website link to “project DR” we see this: “Even more, through the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, local governments retain the majority of decision-making authority. This means they can push back against unconstitutional federal laws, regulations, and mandates. It’s a double win for liberty! The Libertarian Party is going local to defend freedom where it matters most.” And yet I see us speaking very little to nothing on social media, through resolutions, etc. about the federalization and militarization of our cities. This is a power grab by the Feds as bad as - or worse - than the COVID lockdowns and other anti- individual actions. Just like the COVID-excused abuses that the earlier LNC was, with some justification, accused of downplaying, this LNC seems to be guilty of a lukewarm response to the militarization of American cities. I also don’t see much on these issues that should be primary for libertarians: 1. Tariffs 2. Federal government shaking down corporations for partial ownership - a truly alarming trend 3. Refusal to follow due process 4. Inflammatory rhetoric from the Administration 5. Epstein files stonewalling 6. Budget bullshit 7. Speech-chilling measures/suits by Trump 8. Undeclared military adventurism in international waters 9. “Domestic terrorism” bullshit that is justifying the previously-mentioned militarization of states whose politicians Trump has a beef with. Instead our social media team seems content with reposting GOP talking points and arguing about which actor(s) in the Middle East and other conflict areas is ‘bad’ (pro tip: they all are bad and it doesn’t matter in terms of Libertarian foreign policy). This is the time to DIFFERENTIATE ourselves from the Republican Party, not just serve as a pale pathetic echo of it. This administration is rapidly assuming the appearance of - AT BEST - an opportunistic populist money and power grab by an oligarchy that absolutely does not respect the rights of the individual. We need to be STATING THAT, loudly and on repeat. Please consider reviewing the social media policy to align more with our platform, our commitment to decentralization, and our need to distinguish ourselves from BOTH left and right. We’re already suffering from the resigned-in-disgrace previous Chair’s subversive support for the Trump administration’s return to power.
