@LukeelkinsTV @arrivaessex There's nothing unusual about that! This app is not only useless, it's actually worse than useless - it would be better if it didn't work at all, rather than telling you things that are simply not true.

@Brightonian_ Quite the most amusing aspect was when Raya needed to make a diving save. Naturally the poor lamb immediately needed a full medical assessment, stopping just short of an MRI scan. Clearly the pain was so severe that he quite forgot which arm he was supposed to have damaged.

@Brightonian_ Sorry about this, but it's time to mute you again. I don't disagree with a word you say, but I can't stand another minute from the idiots you respond to.

I really don’t buy the idea that Bloom ‘doesn’t care’ That’s BS. I know we have some newer fans, but surely most of us all recognise Bloom is a genuine die-hard #BHAFC fan. He goes to every game, has done all through the leagues. Aside from being an elite entrepreneur, more than anything he’s a bloke who knows his football. Probably more than most on here I’d bet. You really don’t think he’s hurting at the latest results? I couldn’t disagree with you more. He bleeds blue and white, he’s a real fan. He surely cares as much as any of us. I’d go one further. Given he’s put in 400 odd million of his own money, oversees operations, sets the vision, and the hiring of key personnel, I reckon he probably feels more invested than anyone. Have opinion and criticism on some of his decisions… I have a few myself, but there’s no question whatsoever that he cares.

@DavidTymm @mathillustrated @pwharris But I found many of these feel guilty because they don't / can't use the "right" method. They feel they're cheating even though their methods are based on insight and understanding.

@mathillustrated This is also shows @pwharris realization that those who find maths easy, often don't do it the way they're taught, but quietly do it with simpler reasoning.

@Kris_Boulton I got that several times as a young teacher. Then I realized that I should also have the triangles oriented differently, because if you don't, students conflate shape and orientation (I remember one student saying to me that, when rotated by 90°, a rectangle became an oblong)

Love, love, love this 😅 Even if it’s apocryphal, it’ll be true somewhere. Perfectly logically consistent with the instructional presentation. Learner responses are always consistent with what we present.
Zach Groshell@MrZachG

A teacher recently told me a good one: she wrote right triangles on the board like this 📐for weeks - until one day she randomly wrote one facing the other way and said, “what kind of triangle is this?” and a kid said, “a left triangle?”

@dylanwiliam @benlandautaylor I was lucky. By the end of September my first boss sat me down and drummed it into me. When he subsequently came to give me a reference he said "He makes mistakes, but he doesn't make the same one twice", and I was happy enough with that.

The worst physics professor I ever learned from was the best physicist at my school. An incredibly kind man, brilliant, patient, and always encouraging, but he just could not imagine the thought process of a person who was not already an expert physicist.

@pickover On balance I go for -12, since if one uses the same convention for the meanings of sqrt(-16) and sqrt(-9) then that's what one gets. We can't use the rule sqrt(ab)=sqrt(a)sqrt(b), which would yield 12, since no convention will satisfy that.

Mathematics. Late-night musings, before sleep. The first five people who correctly solve this will be ecstatically happy for the rest of today.

@Brightonian_ And every single one has more experience and tactical knowledge, not to mention access to personal physical and medical data, than the entire coaching staff put together.

It’s almost impressive how some see the negative in every single decision made by the club. Just endlessly moaning.

@Brightonian_ Mateta has form. He became poster boy for Mainz but after a couple of seasons decided he was too good for them and sulked until he got his move to the glamour of Selhurst. And all credit to Palace for sticking with him when he was by no means an instant success.

@Headteacherchat Depends on you, your experience and what the school are looking for and need. I was an Assistant Headteacher after less than 5 years. Advice given to me was: “let THEM decide if you’re not experienced enough.”

Anon post:I aspire to become an Assistant Head, with the potential to progress to Deputy Head in the future. My goal is to step into an Assistant Head role this year, but I wonder if it's too soon. I have seven years of teaching experience. Would this be the right time to take the next step?

@tomloveless99 I have to say I see both sides of this debate, and there's little research evidence either way. That said, I do like what Gaspard Monge—the father of differential geometry—said about this: "Anyone who has done two long divisions in his life has done one too many".

I like Rosenior and think he’s a good coach. I don’t expect much to come out of a stint at Chelsea (relative to the expectations of a Chelsea manager), given the [work] constraints he’ll undoubtedly face, but I’ll be more than happy to have him at Brighton someday.

Thinking Rosenior can’t command respect because of one video, yet believing Maresca could because of success with City’s U21 side, even whilst he publicly sold his players down the river, is… interesting.
