@GravyTrainBrit @PippaCrerar It was nearly 2 years ago, and doesnt change the point that our costs now remain the fault of the original spike So if you are actually concerned, its years to late

@pippyyeayea @PippaCrerar Kate your Maths is wrong. Had inflation been 1.5% in June 2024 a rise to the current 3% would be a 100% increase. In fact it was 2% so the rise to 3% is 50%.

@GravyTrainBrit @PippaCrerar I'm not the one thats moving the figures to suit the original point of inflation being 50% higher, it isnt, because in July 2024 inflation was not 1.5% Our economy was destabilised when inflation jumped to 11%, because every percentage since is cacluated by those orginal spikes

@pippyyeayea @PippaCrerar Not sure why you are struggling with simple percentages Kate ! The fact remains policy decisions made by Starmer and Reeves -notably in first budget - have destabilised the economy and increased inflation by 50%.

@GravyTrainBrit @PippaCrerar Not sure why you are struggling with the idea that inflation has behaved exactly as predicted. Energy prices dropping was not due to the the Tories, and neither was the knock on affect on inflation

@pippyyeayea @PippaCrerar Yes we know inflation was high in aftermath of covid and Ukraine. Owever Labour inherited a June 2024 inflation figure at the BofE target of 2%. Labour own the 50% rise. They. Are. The. Government.

@sideandaprayer @sjllilley @TAFKASB The Crucible is a charity, not a private business. If you know pensioners that that are choosing to heat or eat, then I suggest you do some of your own charity, and help them in a way you see fit

@sjllilley @TAFKASB Taxpayers subsidising private businesses whilst taxpaying pensioners choose whether to heat or eat is disgusting, and I say that as a snooker fan.

Saw a lot of comments, mostly from Reform voters and fellow oxygen thieves that Starmer shouldn't have got involved in the Crucible deal. Same people who would hail it as 'saving a great British tradition' if Farage would have done it. Which is how he would have dressed it up.

@GravyTrainBrit @PippaCrerar Not to be picky, but previous to that it was over 11% so it was always going to fall, and as the economists reported at the time, rise again before stabilising

@pippyyeayea @PippaCrerar Kate not to be picky but fact check. In July 2024 inflation was 2%. In the latest February inflation numbers it is 3%. If something goes up from 2% to 3% that is a 50% rise. I stand by my earlier tweet.

@PippaCrerar You forget to mention that the consensus was for a fall maybe to 2.8%. And you also forgot to mention that it's UP 50% since Labour took power in July 2024. Top reporting Pippa . . .
