Writing design principles from scratch. My goals are: - low ego - no bullshit - actionable Inspiring is fine, if all of the above are true. What resources and great (or shitty) examples do you have to share?

I’m done with design systems. You won’t hear much about them from me anymore. Not because design systems don’t matter. Not because the work isn’t valuable. They do, and it is. I think design systems matter more today than ever. But that chapter of my career is over. I don’t run a design systems agency anymore. I’m not consulting with design system teams. I’m not in the weeds shipping tokens, libraries, or governance models. That was a past life. The industry has also changed. A lot. There are far more people today who are: ↳ Deep in implementation ↳ Actively maintaining systems ↳ Solving current problems at scale They’re closer to the work than I am now. And they should be the ones you learn from. A quick note on @designsystemu: DSU isn’t going away. The content focuses on the evergreen parts of design systems… the fundamentals that don’t shift as quickly as tools and tech. If you’re looking for training on core design system practice and culture, I still stand by the courses. A small team continues to run the weekly newsletter and support the community. (Seriously, join the weekly newsletter. Tomorrow’s issue about defining “good enough” for components is fantastic.) You can also still buy my book, “Design That Scales.” There’s a lot in there that can level up enterprise design system teams. If you want hands-on, in-the-thick-of-it design systems insight today, please continue to follow people like: → @murphytrueamn@adekunleoduye@noellelansford@DimitriOtero@joeyabanks@cobradave@svorklab@tpitre And many others. They’re doing the real work. Listen to them. (If you share design systems content, say hello in the comments so others can follow along.) As for me, I’m not here to narrate a practice I’m no longer practicing. Design systems deserve voices that are close to the work. That’s not me. What you CAN expect from me: I’m sharing a different part of my experience now. I spent over a decade running a profitable, sustainable design agency: selling work, hiring teams, managing risk, building systems, and making trade-offs under real constraints. What always interested me most about design systems wasn’t the artifacts. It was what they enabled. They gave teams their time back. Less rework. Fewer decisions. More space to think. More room to do meaningful work. That idea still drives my work today. I’m just applying it beyond UI: to how people run teams, design leverage, and build systems that buy back time to live full lives. Different chapter for me. Same values. I’ll leave the design system work to the people closest to it… And focus where my experience creates the most value now.

Digitally? what does that mean, sending text messages? But not physical, forcible, rape in the classic sense? One has to question the judge's motives. So many already dislike, if not out right hate, Trump because of his arrogance.
Brian Krassenstein@krassenstein

Stop telling Donald Trump to sue AOC. According to a judge Trump is RAPIST. The jury determined Trump forcibly penetrated a woman digitally, which Judge Lewis Kaplan later clarified constituted rape in the common understanding.

I'll be at Code for America Summit and would love to connect with other folks in #civictech working to create better outcomes for residents by improving digital experiences. Excited to share about the #accessibility and #designsystem work our team is doing at NYS.

@taylordunham_ @mds @rogie Not really an easy way. You can create a .url file that someone can download and run and it will open a url, but at that point, it's probably best to just create a doc with a big "Visit the hub →" link at the top.

@mds @plasticmind @rogie Yeah in the past I’ve made docs and used them as a “hub” where folks can find links. Excellent solution for freelance client hubs! For internal teams, it’s cumbersome to nest docs into drives and keep updating them. # of docs scales quickly :/

Hive mind: Is there a way to place a link in a @googledrive folder? Specifically: I want my team to be able to open our drive and click on the Sales Deck link - which is an alias that takes them to our Figma presentation. @Google, if you're listening, here's what we need :)

BBG recently developed new tactile maps which include a raised map, text, and braille. We’re excited to add these to our wayfinding tools! 🗺 Find them in the Fragrance Garden, the southern end of the Discovery Garden, and one more soon to be installed at the Visitor Center.

@wesbos Clever interactions between front-end and back-end. I remember reading about how IG would upload a photo in the bg while users composed a caption, so that when the user confirmed the post, it appeared to upload impossibly fast.

What are some UI/UX moves that can make your app "feel" faster? Or the opposite - what UI things make a website feel frustratingly slow? A few examples: * Optimistic UI * mousedown instead of click * unnecessary spinners Doing a show on this

@wesbos I have this idea that animations that feel fun the first time, feel unbearably slow the 100th time. So maybe apps should track how much a user has used a feature that uses animation, and gradually speed up the animations as they use it more.
