@zzakzzak111 @moseskagan @urbanistvc It was all well and good when they exported jobs for profit, why do I care about exporting their profit now? To prop up a less efficient and inferior product as a jobs program? No thank you, every man for himself until everyone realizes how unsustainable that is.

@moseskagan @urbanistvc why do I the american consumer give a damn about manufacturing capacity? this has long been a ruse to pay more into oligarchs pockets for inferior products in the guise of “national security”

@RachelBitecofer @thepondering_ Are we sure he’s not willing to be a calm fighter? I don’t think he’s enjoyed being handicapped by KY legislature. I’ve seen some lines from him that give the feeling he’s saying the right have anti-christian values, a line Dems have been unwilling to hit unfortunately.

I’m telling you now Dem primaries in 2026 aren’t about progressives versus moderates. It’s about appeasers versus fighters and who voters decide can protect them. Period. Full stop. We are living through a nightmare

Andy was my governor, is an amazing man and leader, and would be a fantastic president… after winning in 2036 I am convinced the party and the country need a more… uhh… ferocious Democrat for the next two terms and I’m not convinced Andy’s willing to make changes and hold them accountable

@thepondering_ I’m not saying this is entirely wrong… but point me to the viable 2028 candidate that is “willing to make changes and hold them accountable” I see him as able to mold a new platform that can be seen as less divisive even if it is further left, not that that will happen.

@Phil_Lewis_ Everything is a conspiracy when you don’t know how anything works, pretend to not have any experience about anything in life, or are a below average intelligence person that refuses any moment of critical thinking or learning. Last name NGO?? Soros funded?? 🤯

@TheCalvinCooli1 Just blatantly anti-intellectual. Similar to the Islamic/ Eastern world carrying the torch of innovation through the “Dark Ages” I will take a bit of solace knowing that other places in the world will continue on advancing without us.

US takes Venezuela. Russia takes Ukraine. China takes Taiwan. Israel takes Gaza. Builds a Miami strip together with US. Europe left behind. Falls apart in the coming years. Russia expands more. US takes Greenland. China takes parts of Africa. Investing heavily in this area. US takes Mexico. What is the next play? Am I playing delusional Risk? This world chess is getting real if you ask me.

@tracyalloway If this is real would it not be a giant red flag? The guy actually just thinks writing down inflation at 0% whether it is or not is good, along with interrupting the Survivor finale for nothing.

@TheStalwart I think both sides are correct here- restrictive policy has led to worse than what could have been unemployment, but less restrictive policy is going to fire up inflation again while surveys are saying a majority of Americans won’t feel better unless they get price deflation.

Black unemployment has been surging. More evidence that Trump/Miran are correct, that the Fed is at risk of falling behind the curve, with overly restrictive policy. And more evidence that the immigration reversal hasn't helped the more vulnerable parts of the US labor force.

@agraybee Ironically I think this is almost certainly anti Spanish… maybe subtly but the people of the time would’ve known, I believe... No Spanish represented in the year of the Spanish-American War, but Cubans, who we became protectorate over after the War

@cafreiman I agree, find a good factory liaison seller overseas and get the $150 shoes for $20 ($45 with tariff) Thank you… capitalism? for China’s ability to produce cheap goods.

You can easily buy shoes for less than $150 and coffee for less than $8 and it’s thanks to capitalism’s ability to relentlessly drive down prices

@awprokop @mattyglesias If the examples in the article amount to the level worthy of a Federal agency’s protection, there are a lot more people who deserve government security officers. Everyone else not in/previously in the government would have to get their own security in the same situation.

@mattyglesias This example actually shows the opposite, the wacky far right is getting tons of engagement by spinning out conspiracy theories about Kash's girlfriend, hence why he thinks she needs a security detail thebulwark.com/p/kash-patel-g…

@JeremiahDJohns Correction- in addition to drawing the 2-1 panel in appeal, I didn’t think about the decision not being made until May of this year, so Trump’s FTC is the one who declined to request the full court review. I don’t count that as a Khan loss but maybe that’s just me.

@JeremiahDJohns Now, it matters who appointed those judges… not even an endorsement of her polices, but something to be aware of. Microsoft-Activision drew a 2-1 Trump appointed panel in the Ninth Circuit… The FTC could have, and for the win probably should have, requested en banc review.

@Noahpinion This comes from the perspective of a completely different economic system. I think since 2020 I’ve seen at least a handful of months long periods of articles on “Chinese housing market crash” and it never does. Why does no one writing these articles analyze how they were wrong?
