#DidYouKnow? Although they threaten hundreds of millions of people, Neglected Tropical Diseases (#NTDs) receive only 0.6% of global health care funding. Through #ESPEN, @WHO + partners strive to end NTDs by 2030. Here’s how 👇🏾

Africa’s #NTD elimination targets are achievable—but demand innovation, integration into primary health care, sustainable domestic financing, and stronger cross‑border collaboration. PMM2026 calls for turning political commitment into accelerated action toward 2030.

Neglected tropical diseases persist not because solutions are lacking, but because inequities remain. Across the African Region, countries are demonstrating that elimination is possible when commitment, partnership and community engagement come together. By December 2025, 22 countries had eliminated at least one NTD. We have the tools and the 2030 Roadmap. What we need now is sustained investment and decisive action to reach the most marginalized. A future free of NTDs is a future where Africa’s full potential is realized. We must act now.

Raila Odinga was a true champion of democracy. A child of independence, he endured decades of struggle and sacrifice for the broader cause of freedom and self-governance in Kenya. Time and again, I personally saw him put the interests of his country ahead of his own ambitions. Like few other leaders anywhere, he was willing to choose the path of peaceful reconciliation without compromising his core values. Through his life, Raila Odinga set an example not just for Kenyans, but across Africa and around the world. I know he will be missed. Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to his family and to the people of Kenya.
