For the bots and the few real people actually reading this thread, this video is accurate. There is no new “Voter ID,” that would be established as a result of this bill. What it does do is adds administrative and financial hurdles to REGISTER to vote (which can be likened to poll taxes, which are unconstitutional) that will affect women (69 million of them), the poor, and people of color.

Let me tell you about the SAVE Act. You need to know about it. It’s Trump’s first (of likely many) major attempt to rig the election in his favor. It takes away the right to vote for millions and allows your voting records to be erased. We cannot let it pass the Senate.

@kyledcheney This order will fall on appeal. SCOTUS already ruled that these migrants could not be treated as a class of litigants. So each one needs to file a habeas challenge. Also if the AEA is held to grant broad deportation powers then this order is moot because the removal was lawful.

A felon fleeing arrest entering a home is a valid exigent circumstance. The fact that he's a known felon categorically makes entry without a warrant permissible.

You say you support the Fourth Amendment, but then you immediately start carving out exceptions that the courts have already rejected. No one is claiming a judicial warrant is required for every arrest. The issue is forced entry into a home. That is where the constitutional line gets much stricter. The Supreme Court of the United States has made it clear that the home receives the highest Fourth Amendment protection. Administrative immigration warrants are not signed by a judge and do not authorize breaking into a residence. Whether someone is undocumented or missed an immigration hearing does not erase constitutional protections. The Fourth Amendment applies to people in the United States, not just citizens. Courts have said that repeatedly. You do not lose your right to be secure in your home because of your immigration status. You also ask why the agents are entering the home as if the goal automatically justifies the method. That is not how constitutional law works. The government’s objective does not give it unlimited power. Law enforcement must still follow constitutional limits on how they execute that objective. You suggest that if there is an issue the agents should be charged, but then you downplay the incident by saying most arrests happen without incident. That is irrelevant. Constitutional violations are judged case by case. The fact that other arrests may go smoothly does not make an unlawful entry or excessive force legal in this instance. And yes, if facts later show there was a valid judicial warrant or a true exigent emergency tied to a serious crime, then the legal analysis changes. That is exactly how constitutional review works. But absent that, forced entry into a home on an administrative immigration warrant and force against a non suspect homeowner raise serious Fourth Amendment problems. You cannot say you believe in the Fourth Amendment while arguing that immigration enforcement lets the government bypass it inside someone’s home. The Constitution does not have an immigration exception.

What you’re watching in this video should disturb every American, no matter your politics. Federal agents forcing entry into a private home without a judicial warrant is a direct assault on the Fourth Amendment. The Constitution is crystal clear: the government cannot enter your home without a warrant signed by a judge, based on probable cause, unless there are true emergency circumstances. Your home is supposed to be the most protected space in this country. When agents ignore that line, they’re not enforcing law they’re breaking it. It gets worse. When the homeowner closes his own door after they leave, he’s assaulted. That’s not “officer safety.” That’s retaliation. Use of force is only lawful when there is an immediate, objective threat. A man shutting his own door on his own property is not a threat. That’s punishment for asserting control over his home. This is how tyranny looks in real time. Not tanks in the streets agents who think a badge lets them bypass judges, bypass rights, and use force when their authority is questioned. The entire purpose of the Constitution is to put the government in chains, not the people. If this is allowed to stand, then the Fourth Amendment becomes a suggestion instead of a protection. Today it’s this man’s door. Tomorrow it’s anyone’s. Rights don’t disappear because a federal patch is on someone’s sleeve. Every American who cares about liberty, left or right, should condemn this. You can support law enforcement and still demand they follow the Constitution. In fact, that’s the only position that’s truly pro America.

Today I sent Governor Walz an email urgently requesting an eviction moratorium ahead of Feb. 1st- rent will be due for many Minnesotans that have been sheltering in place due to the inhumane behavior of ICE. Relying solely on the generosity of neighbors is not fair or feasible.
