I can accept that the slur was involuntary, but what I won't accept is the BBC doing absolutely nothing to mitigate the harm.
Let’s channel our rage and report the BBC to @Ofcom

Send a complaint to the BBC today.
Make them understand that under no circumstances should that clip have been broadcast.

This is more thoughtful & direct than anything issued since the incident occurred.
Says a heap.

“Sinners” production designer Hannah Beachler said that Alan Cumming’s “throw away apology” over the N-word being shouted during the BAFTA Film Awards made the situation “worse.”
"I understand and deeply know why this is an impossible situation. I know we must handle this with grace and continue to push through. But what made the situation worse was the throw away apology of ‘if you were offended’ at the end of the show." variety.com/2026/film/glob…

@I_amMukhtar The BBC has always been racist and they will support racism to its core. They deliberately left that in the program. No one. An tell me otherwise. Especially if they managed to edit out other bits of the show before airing.

The BBC’s decision to cut this section of Akinola Davies Jr’s speech when the #Baftas was broadcast later in the day is shameful.
Thank you Akinola Davies Jr for using your platform to speak out for the rights of migrants and people facing and fleeing from persecution and mass atrocities - from the Congo to Sudan to Palestine.

For me it’s not even about whether #JohnDavidson Tourette Campaigner said the N Word deliberately, on purpose, or not.
It’s more why did the @BBC not just edit his Racist slur after he’d shouted out the word: “Nigger” … @BBC happily edited out the: “FreePalestine” 🇵🇸 speech 🤷🏽♀️

Labour MP, Dawn Butler, Demands Answers After BBC Aired BAFTAs Slur Despite Two-Hour Delay

So let me get this straight:
There is a 2hr delay between the BAFTA event & the BBC airing it. In that time they managed to edit out a woman saying “Free Palestine” but didn’t edit out the man with Tourette’s shouting the N word at 2 black people?
Is that where we are?

@The_Acumen They edited out "Free Palestine", which is bigoted, and left in the racial slur. the consistency is the White Supremacy and its offspring, Zionism. Now ppl are bickering over neurological disorders, which they don't understand. intentional malice and cruelty

@The_Acumen Fully agree. It’s clear the BBC wanted the controversy yet appeased White Supremacists and Zionist genocidal baby eaters by cutting out ‘Free Palestine’
