My manager at my previous startup started using Cursor in early 2025. The first thing he did was fire an intern. Then he told the rest of us we didn't need to hire anymore. We were a team of 3 people. One night he stayed up late experimenting with it, prompting features and pushing changes directly to production. I woke up the next morning. Auth was completely broken. People keep thinking AI means you don't need engineers anymore. What actually happens is you break things faster without someone who understands the system. AI helps you ship. But it does not replace the person who knows what should and should not ship.

‼️🚨 BREAKING: Amazon researchers snitched to the US government about jailbreaking Fable 5 and Mythos 5, forcing Anthropic to immediately shut down worldwide access. A security export control directive from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick enforced the action. Anthropic is fighting the directive and calls it a misunderstanding. This isn't the first clash. The Trump administration had already tried to get Anthropic to pause the release of its latest models before this directive landed.
