What does it achieve? We already have saas which is generic software that works for everyone and was easy to maintain but having specific agents for every customers every use case is going to be a maintenance havoc and if evals are not in place and there is sudden degradation in one specific model from claude or openAI after 6 months or a year from migration to Agents we are looking at huge mess and loss of productivity for everyone. All that for what just changing interface from deterministic UI actions and rest APIs to very unpredictable chat interface. This will be biggest self goal for tech businesses. We are not creating any new value just changing the representation which is very inefficient use of time and capital for everyone. And economic effects this will have are catastrophic 2,3 providers owning every tech business having disproportionate income gaps very few earning so high and huge job loss. And if we are saying there won’t be any job losses and fdes will replace swes what’s the point of doing all of this in first place then? Did we forget basic principle of don’t fix something that already works ?

The need and opportunity for professional services and FDEs to deploy agents right now is massive. Every tech wave offers a new era of consulting and tech services requirements. Moving from analog to digital led to a massive wave in the 90s. Moving from on-prem to cloud did the same in the 2000s. But this is going to be at a scale far greater than the others. The reason is that agents fundamentally change the underlying workflows of an organization. Unlike most prior eras of technology, where it was a change in medium of the service being delivered (on-prem CRM to cloud CRM), agents rewire the business process itself. And unlike upgrading a tech system, business processes are full of idiosyncrasies. Every industry will have its own variants, and every department within those industries will have variants as well. Not to mention the bespoke difference between firms. Bringing agents to marketing in CPG will look different from marketing in healthcare. Bringing agents to sales in a B2B software company will look different from a car dealership. And none of the change is easy technically. You need to first modernize your infrastructure and data and make sure it’s ready for agents; access controls, entitlements, and permissions need to be mapped in a way that works for agents and people; you need to make sure agents have the right context to work with; you need to consistently eval and maintain the agents when there are model upgrades; and you need to drive the change management of the process itself to figure out which parts the people do and what agents do. That’s an insane amount of technical and domain-specific process work to be done to make this all happen. Huge opportunity for new service providers, as well as internally teams and roles to emerge, to help drive this change.

Opus 4.7 uses more thinking tokens, so we've increased rate limits for all subscribers to make up for it. Enjoy!

due to tokenizer swap, opus 4.7 now costs 30-40% more than opus 4.6 they could have compensated this by reducing the input/output pricing but you can adjust thinking efforts if you were using: - opus 4.6 on high, use opus 4.7 on medium - opus 4.6 on max, use opus 4.7 on high/xhigh

IMPORTANT: Home minister @AmitShah claims that there will be uniform increase by 50% across states through Delimitation even though the bill at the moment doesn’t specifically mention a number (promises to clarify tomorrow). Says southern states in percentage terms will be around 24% (currently 23.8).. will this be enough to quell the concerns of the South? Remember, in absolute numbers the gap will widen further if seats are increased to 850 even if percentage stays roughly the same. 🙏
