Once whole brain emulation makes consciousness trivially easy to fork/clone/copy, “identity management and persistence” becomes one of the most gamified and politically contested allocations of compute If you can “live forever” then you will likely want the most evolutionarily fit version of you to persist. Maybe. Otherwise, you’ll be outcompeted by other minds that are willing to let 99.99% of themselves die in order to stay relevant In the same way we have “wealth custodians” and wealth managers, we’ll see the emergence of “consciousness/digital identity custodians” who store and preserve your brain emulation(s) and keep these secure against adversarial attacks
