Hochul was also polled. Topline was +4 and her coalition was very similar to Zohran, but she did better with Whites and worse with Nonwhite independents. She had better favorables among Dems and much worse for indies! Also had higher name rec/opinions than Zohran.

I don’t follow Hasan, but if someone has a huge political following, why not use it to sway voters from Newsom, who you agree is a terrible candidate, two years out from primaries?
Giacomo Volpe 🌹🤝🌐@_giacomo_volpe_

The actual harm of nominating Newsom isn’t from Hasan type wreckers. They’ll help Vance no matter who wins. It’s from the barrage of bad CA headlines that he has been and will continue to be tied to Don’t nominate someone who has poorly governed their state!

at this rate I think Schumer retires *and* AOC doesn’t run for the seat. instead it probably ends up being Letitia James or Pat Ryan clobbering Ritchie Torres and a DSA endorsee. the Schumer v. AOC battle for the ages would be too exciting for this timeline

@PfPopulist Fully agreed. She occupies a lane that wouldn’t lose votes from any of the candidates the gay white Lib ET crowd slobbers over. But she can’t win in New Hampshire or South Carolina so how does her campaign get off the ground?

A few thoughts on this whole AOC for president discourse: 1) She is likely running 2) She would be the frontrunner unless either Harris or Newsom (but not both) runs 3) While not being the most "electable" viable candidate for Dems, she also wouldn't be the *least* electable
Dylan Williams@dylanotes

Congresswoman @AOC is currently one of the most popular figures among Democrats—maybe even the most popular. “Democrats overwhelmingly want their elected leaders to fight, and they know who they want to fight against: the superrich and corporate America” newrepublic.com/article/206015…

What happened to election forecasting models? There used to be so many of them that you’d have “Model Wars” but now Nate Silver is almost the only one doing it

During the ICE operation in Minnesota, 3364 trafficked children were recovered and saved. Not a peep from Walz, Frey, or Democrats. It’s sick.

i don’t know what a credible argument for “AOC has weaker politics than bernie” would look like but i imagine, as always, a pretty tortured understanding of what Politics are
