I know officers who were traumatized from that day and they just listened to the radio from across the street. I’m positive some officers and some demonstrators on the ground experienced moments of PTSD and their actions reflected that. There are a lot of facts that haven’t come out and people should know what they are and process those facts in their assessment of that situation: 1) What time did the swat team arrive at the Capitol? 2) Who notified the team to respond? 3) When were Capitol officials notified of the swat team arrival? 4) When was Byrd specifically notified of the swat team arrival and location before the shooting? 5) Were command officials assisting in the evacuation via simulcast so all officers were notified and on the same page? 6) Was the House evacuated at the same time as the Senate? If no then why? 7) Were there shots fired or something that sounded like shots fired in the Capitol before Babbitt was shot? There are dozens more questions like this that should be asked and answered before people should formulate a final opinion on Byrd. The most important thing to remember is that day occurred because of failures at the top of the pyramid. Not the bottom. More investigation is needed even if it’s just for instilling confidence in the system for public opinion. That’s all I’m saying.
