Randomly remembered an obscure band I loved called Dishwalla. I'd heard one song from them, called Counting Blue Cars, when I was in school. When I moved to Pune for engineering, on MG Road, there was a basement shop that had the most curious selection of cassettes (yes, those days), and I picked up a couple of Dishwalla albums from that place at...Candleburn and Charlie Brown's Parents were great songs. I think it was 60 bucks a cassette. I swear I never found that selection of music in any other music shop (yes we had actual music shops then), because everyone catered to the mass market, and it was rare to find relatively obscure music. You could get some of it in one shop in Palika Bazaar in Delhi, which had great bootlegs... which had music from Monster Magnet and Nine Inch Nails, but very few other places did. Somehow, music streaming services, with all the algos and all the music, suck at personalising curation still, because they know what you're listening to but not what you've heard, and what made you feel, or chuckle. It could be that guitar solo (Prince in the live performance of My Guitar Gently Weeps, or *that* riff in Dani California). I mean YouTube music has probably never heard of Helga's Fun Castle... I've made an ultra-long playlist of some 300 songs that I liked growing up (there's a lot of Garbage) and it's a great companion for me when I'm writing Reasoned because I get lost in the music and lose track of time, my task-list and my calendar. I used to listen to entire albums once upon a time, and the friction of having to press that forward button to wait and skip a song meant that sometimes you heard the song anyway to avoid the silence and the snap-back to reality. Sometimes when we automate and reduce friction, we lose what that friction brought: the patience, the focus, the gaps that our mind fills in unexpected ways. Anyway, it is good to be writing again - I missed that - and good to be back to music. Merry Christmas and a happy 2026 everyone. Listen to the music you miss and do the things you love.

A bunch of you asked us questions about our revenues, regulations, international investing, AI, and more. @nikhilkamathcio, Kailash, @karthikrangappa, Venu, and I answered a lot of those questions in this AMA. Since there were several questions about US investing: we didn't offer it until now because the regulations were unclear, but now there's clarity. In May, SEBI and IFSCA allowed brokers to operate in GIFT City, and in June, the exchanges allowed brokers to offer third-party products. @eMudhra your DSC renewal system needs improvements Any reason an existing user cannot login n renew and has to buy like a new user, provide all details all over again. Your DSC USB token, download, the embridge app everything is so glitchy. Atleast renewal can be simpler
