@halogen1048576 @Wilson__Valdez Nowhere near half of Dem primary voters have even heard of Piker
English

@Wilson__Valdez Hasan's supporters are dangerous undeserving filth and a fair microcosm of like half of the potential primary electorate, albeit the less engaged half. it's really bad for the Democrats and the country because Trump II is a much bigger danger and they don't care
English

@Ike_Saul Trump Derangement Syndrome is named after its most famous victim, like Lou Gehrig's Disease
English

@MAGAtakes @Ike_Saul Romney and McCain were indeed decent people, but the idea that they were subject to harsher and less fair attacks than Obama and Kerry does not stand up to scrutiny.
English

Republicans literally ran McCain and Romney, the most “decent” milquetoast politicians in a generation.
What did the left do? Accuse them both of being racists and sexists, which was absurd.
Trump was the backlash to this leftist vitriol. Without understanding the left is the root cause of the nastiness, your analysis is worthless.
English

@ratnerstar @Ike_Saul "Create stories" does not equal "fabricate information", which was explained by many including him at the time.
English

@QuentinCody @Ike_Saul Maybe Vance *was* decent at some point in his life, but that period is over.
nytimes.com/2024/09/15/us/…
English

@Ike_Saul JD Vance is decent, Gavin Newsom is not. The left/media will try to make JD appear indecent by association. There's a lot of selective pearl-clutching
English

@peacher_martin Hemingway. Fitzgerald. Steinbeck.
Dickens. Orwell. Bronte.

I love a good American book, but it's so weird reading a British novel and a US novel at the same time. In American literature, *nothing* is between the lines. Everything is very stark and neat. In British literature, you are expected to follow the implication. Same language, different culture.
English

@dilanesper Have you read Corey Robin's The Enigma of Clarence Thomas? If so I'd be interested to hear your opinion of it
English

@kevinwlordbarry @mnolangray Agree in large part, with the exception of the mobile advertising ID ecosystem
English

@mnolangray Meta and Google ad tracking is both harmless and highly secure, those platforms do not sell your personal data.

Zoning created a class of people who regulate neighborhoods they don't live in, for people they've never met, relying on abstractions rather than local knowledge.
It's a skin in the game issue.
If you're for zoning, you're anti
The Latin Quarter. The Marais. Amsterdam's canal ring. Trastevere. The medina of Fez. Savannah's historic district. Charleston's South of Broad. The French Quarter. Georgetown. Back Bay. Greenwich Village. Prague's Old Town. Edinburgh's Royal Mile. Florence's Oltrarno
tobi lutke@tobi
@ZoeCoombes all great neighborhoods on planet earth got built before zoning laws got invented.
English

@mattyglesias So you think the country that has chanted “death to America” for the past 50 years is interested in a nuke as a deterrent?

@InSchlep @brad_polumbo @RobGeorge congratulations, "she got the pink" is now stuck in your head

@lisavsworld Personally I feel like that's a pretty minor consideration, but I readily admit I'm probably not the primary target audience
English

@TakeThatNurses @dissproportion Highly recommend sardines! Much less mercury than in tuna too
English

@ratnerstar @dissproportion I’ve always been curious about making tuna salad with stuff other than canned tuna. I did it with a fresh tuna steak once, and that was good, but I just always seem to forget when I’m at the store. Hadn’t thought about sardines though, that’s a good idea
English

I said “anchovies” but I meant sardines. Because apparently you can’t really eat enough anchovies to get the health benefits. So how can I eat sardines without tasting them?
Dissproportionately@dissproportion
What if I blended anchovies and added them to soup? Would I get the health benefits without having to taste them (much)?
English

@maustermuhle @WashProbs Being balanced is a key characteristic of a good Deal
English

@llallawg @dissproportion (by "great flavor" I don't mean fishy, it just adds umami. You won't taste any anchovy flavor at all)
English

@llallawg @dissproportion Yeah, no need for blending at all! And no need for a specific recipe. If you're making anything that starts with heating up olive oil, just dump a can of anchovies in there first and stir until they disintegrate. Adds omega 3s but also just great flavor
English

@MariGO2thepolls Why don't people like worms? We've never tasted them before
