An Integrated Bus Stand for Coimbatore is no longer a luxury — it is essential infrastructure for the city’s future growth. Today, long-distance and mofussil buses are split across Gandhipuram, Singanallur, Ukkadam and SETC terminals, creating confusion, congestion and unnecessary intra-city traffic movement. Even official planning documents of the Coimbatore Corporation acknowledge that the concentration of multiple bus terminals in central areas causes heavy vehicle and pedestrian congestion. The idea of a centralized Integrated Bus Terminus (IBT) at Vellalore has been discussed for years, with proposals mentioning a ₹300 crore integrated facility to shift pressure away from the city core. An integrated bus stand would help: 🔹Reduce traffic congestion in Gandhipuram, Ukkadam and Singanallur 🔹Improve connectivity with future Metro and railway expansion 🔹Provide one unified terminal for passengers 🔹Reduce travel confusion for outstation commuters 🔹Enable better parking, city bus integration and commercial planning. @hosurupdates Who were willing to part with their land at Sulur ? The ambiguity since 2010 in acquisition for defence caused enough damage to price discovery. Government should be clear, transparent and should be within a specific time frame. Compensation to be in accordance with market rate.
