NYT out with a jaw dropping investigative report on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. 60 Minutes reported last Sunday on some of this, too. The NYT report is a must-read, the 60 Minutes report should then be watched. 1/3

Surely it's just a coincidence that the 1789 Capital, the investment firm Trump's son Don Jr is a partner for, saw the assets it manages skyrocket from $200 million to $3.5 billion over the past year ft.com/content/712a6a…

Ken Paxton has been indicted for securities fraud. Impeached by the Texas House with majority Republican support. His whistleblower staffers reported him to the FBI, he fired them, a judge found he violated the Whistleblower Act, and Texas paid those staffers $6.6 million. His wife filed for divorce on, quote, "biblical grounds" - which is the Baptist way of saying Ken was at it again. This year he also ordered Texas public schools to prove they are displaying the Ten Commandments in their classrooms. Trump endorsed him anyway. Over a 23-year incumbent senator who tried to rename a highway after Trump in a last-ditch attempt to secure the nod. It did not work. Cook Political Report has already moved Texas into a fully competitive race if Paxton wins Tuesday. A Presbyterian seminarian running on faith and economic populism could be the first Democrat elected to the Texas Senate since 1988. A Republican strategist in the Atlantic piece described the situation as "deep kimchi." He was being diplomatic.

“Trump may have cemented a set of very difficult circumstances for his party. If Paxton wins on Tuesday, Democrats will probably be better positioned to win statewide in Texas than they’ve been in the past 40 years” theatlantic.com/politics/2026/…

Thomas Massie says he will publicly read the names of the Epstein clients before his time in Congress comes to an end. Massie says there will be no high-level arrests as long as Todd Blanche and Kash Patel work for the United States government. Massie says Melania Trump knows the truth about Epstein not acting alone. "Todd Blanche is violating the law."

Meanwhile in Ukraine
Meanwhile in Ukraine@MeanwhileInUA·
Putin didn't invade Ukraine because of NATO. He invaded because Ukrainians were proving democracy works. Historian and Pulitzer Prize winner Anne Applebaum puts it plainly: Putin looked at Ukraine's democratic movement and thought, "If they can do it in Ukraine, then people could do it in Russia. So I need to crush this." That's the real threat Ukraine posed. Not missiles. Not borders. A working democracy next door. Applebaum frames the war as a fault line between the democratic and autocratic worlds. Russia isn't just trying to take territory. It's trying to erase Ukraine as a nation, reduce it to a colony, and send a message to every country that the post-1945 rules of Europe no longer apply. Those rules were simple: no invasions, no wars, borders don't change by force. Russia understood exactly what it was breaking when it crossed into Ukraine.

Some of Donald Trump’s favorite world leaders have been scoundrels, bullies, and dictators. The China summit showed, yet again, that such men can both intimidate and flatter Trump into taking their side - even against the United States. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

@SecRubio You're right except it isn't Cuba you're describing it's what the Epstein Administration is doing to Americans. Plundering our taxpayer dollars and doing nothing for the people. Shame on all of you.

@atrupar Bezos: "Doubling my taxes won't help that teacher in Queens." Spoken like a true greedy hypocrite. Your Amazon empire dodges taxes, crushes workers on poverty wages, and you blow billions on space joyrides. That hoarded fortune could fund every teacher in the country. 🤡

Yesterday, Senate Republicans moved part of the $72 billion reconciliation bill out of committee to fund ICE, terrorize our communities, and violate our rights.
They voted down every amendment from Democrats, each intended to rein in DHS’s lawlessness.    Today, they will continue the legislative process to ensure Trump and his donors can continue profiting from our pain. We must hold the line: NO money for ICE and CBP.
