Today, 41 Texas Legislators sent a
formal letter to @GregAbbott_TX demanding he withdraw his threat against the City of Grand Prairie over the DFW Epic Eid celebration.
Abbott threatened to pull $530,000 in state funding unless the city canceled a private Muslim community event. The city had no choice. A joyful Eid celebration, now in its third year, was canceled because of government coercion.
Faith communities rent city-owned facilities for private events across Texas every day. No governor has threatened funding over any of them. The difference here is not the structure of the event. It is who is gathering.
The harm is done, but it can be undone. We call on Governor Abbott to withdraw this threat immediately and make Grand Prairie whole.

A quick note on "cost" vs "costed"
I am increasingly seeing "costed" used as the simple past tense of how much someone paid for something, and each time it feels like being stabbed in the eye

Apparently "Well Regulated Militia" isn't clear at all to you.
It's not a restriction or limitation of the RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE to keep and bear arms.

Knight also runs a daycare facility that she calls the “Excellence Early LEARING Center” on the website.
Perhaps a little more digging is in order on this early learing center 🤨

I'm not saying this can't be contained, but now is EXACTLY the time to worry/pay attention. And it really wouldn't be so worrisome if there was an actual handle on things and a bit more transparency. Please stop calm-mongering & glazing over the very real potential for disaster.

I don’t think this hantavirus thing is anything to worry about. The pandemic risk is extremely low. But the problem is that our “public health authorities” permanently destroyed their credibility with covid, so if there ever is an apocalyptic pandemic nobody will believe them.
