After Blue Origin’s New Glenn anomaly tonight it’s hard to not speculate the implications on the Artemis Program. LC-36 is New Glenn’s only pad, and tonight’s event will likely put Blue out of the race for Artemis III. For reference it took SpaceX 15 months to repair SLC-40 after the AMOS-6 pad explosion.

Pope Leo XIV to participants in the Plenary Session of the Dicastery for Evanglization: “It is not by watering down the contents and softening the demands that one can make Christianity attractive, but by bearing witness with humility and courage to the Way, the Truth, and the Life that has converted and sanctified so many people."

A realidade é o pior inimigo do positivismo deles.

I’m increasingly thinking that Leo is going to bring an end to the post-conciliar era of liturgical ad-libbing and experimentation. Perhaps he will even consider reforms of the NOM.

This is deeply concerning. Episcopal consecration without papal mandate touches the very heart of ecclesial communion and apostolic unity. You cannot claim fidelity and respect to the supreme authority of the universal Church and Chair of Peter while acting independently of the authority entrusted to that same Chair in matters as serious as the appointment of bishops. Let us pray for the Church.

JUST IN: SSPX Announces Four Priests to Be Consecrated as Bishops on July 1: dianemontagna.substack.com/p/sspx-announc… In a statement released today at 2:32pm (Rome), the SSPX said the four priests are: Father Pascal Schreiber, of Swiss nationality; Father Michael Goldade, of American nationality; Father Michel Poinsinet de Sivry, of French nationality; Father Marc Hanappier, of French nationality. “In a spirit of respect toward the supreme authority of the universal Church, the dossiers of these priests were presented to the Holy Father, together with certain explanations necessary for a proper understanding of this step, within the very particular and exceptional context of these episcopal consecrations,” the statement added. Setting aside Leo XIV's claim that 𝘐𝘯 𝘗𝘭𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘴 was an "absolute and universal condemnation of slavery" (it wasn't), it's interesting to contrast Leo XIII's treatment of the Church's historical responses to slavery in that same document with Leo XIV's.  Leo XIII sings the Church's praises for establishing the bond of Christian charity between master and slave throughout Christendom. He notes that the Church always fought the abuse of slaves, from ancient to colonial to modern times, and that when circumstances allowed, it encouraged their release, restoring society to the originally intended order of nature by means of grace. "Therefore," he concludes, "sufficient praise or thanks can never be returned to the Catholic Church, the banisher of slavery, [etc.]."  Leo XIV, on the other hand, while stating that the Church of the past was working with immature moral criteria (!), bemoans that it nevertheless failed to correctly address slavery for most of its history. In the footnotes, he condemns 5 past acts of the magisterium (𝘚𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘵 𝘋𝘶𝘥𝘶𝘮, 𝘌𝘵𝘴𝘪 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪, 𝘋𝘶𝘮 𝘋𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘴, 𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘴 𝘗𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘹 & the 1866 Instruction of the Holy Office), for merely "regulating" forms of slavery, or distinguishing between the moral and immoral use of it, rather than condemning it outright. He then presumes to apologize on behalf of the Church for this "wound in Christian memory."  The two approaches could not be more opposed. One emphasizes the indefectibility of the Church; the other claims that the Church Herself erred repeatedly in Her public moral teaching. One displays love and admiration for Christ's spotless Bride; the other displays contempt and shame. Of course, it's natural for Leo XIV to feel such embarrassment for the constant teaching of the Catholic Church, because it is a different Church than the one he represents. In his encyclical, @Pontifex laments that it took the Church 18 centuries to issue a “formal, absolute and universal condemnation of slavery,” in 1888. That delay “constitutes a wound in Christian memory,” Leo writes. “For this, in the name of the Church, I sincerely ask for pardon."
