@reliabytes

Data engineer for complex facilities. Tech scrappy. Opinions are mine. Except the bad ones. Not sure how they got in here.

The mini launch is clutch for work order classifying potentially. Time to find out.

@Angaisb_ For enterprise/business, it's Kimi that's DOA. We have to have trusted models through our providers like OpenAI, and open source just isn't worth the hassle.

@signulll I suspect we'll see a significant cross-functionality develop between Codex and ChatGPT, to the point Codex apps could double as a ChatGPT surface, serving coders and non-coders as a personal assistant. I don't think their personal assistant end goal has changed.

let's simulate what sama & mark chen are going through for the next few weeks on what to prioritize & what to chop shall we? this will be the walmart version of it lmao. openai has 29 "products" in the portfolio. - chatgpt - chatgpt search - deep research - chatgpt agent - chatgpt atlas - chatgpt pulse - sora - codex - image generation / images - voice in chatgpt - projects - canvas - tasks - shopping research / commerce in chatgpt - gpt store / gpts / apps - chatgpt business - chatgpt enterprise / team / edu packaging - atlas for enterprise - oit's vepenai api platform - responses api - realtime api - agents / agentkit - agents sdk - web search api/tooling - image generation api - codex cloud / developer codex surfaces - computer-using agent (platform/model layer) - operator (legacy/transitioning standalone identity) - let's say 4 hardware devices jony ive's team is working on (this probably does not get killed) now obviously most of these fit into the enterprise & coding territory. so what do you keep vs kill? most likely to be killed / deprioritized: atlas pulse gpt store (at least put in sunset) shopping & commerce sora (as a “hero product”) merge & consolidate everything else into chatgpt app. intense focus: codex agents enterprise workflows

@ah20im A official version of @steipete's Oracle to utilize gpt-pro if outright model selection isn't feasible. Remote Control. Dedicated executive assistant / chief of staff agent. A personal agent experience within Codex to help me build and manage work in Codex.

@danshipper Yeah. I'm surprised the first iteration of a true personal assistant hasn't been a Codex or Claude Code version of an "executive assistant" or "chief of staff" agent. To your point, it's a lot to manage and I want one agent who ensures we're all aligned and moving forward.

this is what my codex chat history looks like. we absolutely need a new UX for coding agent guis a few thoughts: 1. my usual workflow is i have one main chat where im doing all my work for the day and then separate windows for each individual issue / feature. once those are in good shape and reviewed, i send them to my main chat to qa on staging and deploy 2. the "main chat" paradigm is nice because i want one place to have a good idea of "here's everything i need to accomplish today, what's been done, and what hasn't"—but right now it's at the same level of prominence in the UX / priority as every other chat which isn't great. 3. the main chat "orchestrator" should also be able to easily know what's going on in other threads. i need to be able to reference other chats easily and also have each sub thread have some idea of what the others are doing by default (should be able to isolate if i want though) 4. it's pretty wild to be doing your n-th codex run of the day, type what you want, and then have the model be like "okay, let's see what's going on here, ahhh there's a repo, and it has X features..." as if it has no idea what i've been doing that day. seems like a huge waste of time and tokens, we need something better by default.

@emollick Based on the fact they were putting out calls for Windows devs earlier this year, my assumption is that OpenAI's Codex app release for Windows marks OAI figuring out how to deploy to there. With that established, a Mac/Win ChatPC release could be on the horizon. *Could* be.

Still no Claude Cowork competitor from any other lab yet. On one hand, its been six weeks. On the other, its been six weeks for companies that say that all their code is being written for them by AI.

Did an RCA and realized that the main issue was that I didn't utilize the sandbox despite it being applicable for my use case. Obvious, I know. Paid stupid money for a stupid choice, now it's up to me to also get a good lesson out of it.

Love gpt-5.4 but man I've never been bitten as hard by an LLM like I have today. First time something like this has ever happened and I was being explicitly conservative in my prompt too. Regroup, learn, try again tomorrow.

Asked Codex to clean up its temporary files in a multi-repo effort, even specifying just the repo, and it went and deleted all my User folder data anyway. Man. I have OneDrive for most of it but this sucks. I hope IT can save some tomorrow, including old Codex Skills. UGH.

Use Plan mode, ensure it's at a High or xHigh reasoning for the Planning stage. Go through and ensure you're aligned on the details, and then let it rip like a Beyblade. A couple references for you to use beyond Plan mode are below. You can copy/paste them into ChatGPT or Codex and have it help you craft the documentation if you're like me and need help getting going: developers.openai.com/blog/run-long-… developers.openai.com/cookbook/artic…

Got to work with @steipete and my main takeaway is I am not executing enough and I could sleep less.

@chetaslua That's assuming gpt-5.4 is the model they're optimizing for OPQA. Seems probable they've forked their models between internal and external use but that's speculation on my part.

Skills are among the most consequential new tools for AI, and Anthropic just released a very impressive nontechnical Cowork Skill that builds Skills, including doing interviews & providing benchmarks. I think you still need to add the human touch, but this is a big leap forward

@Pauliespasta @emollick I have a Pro account and it's not released there yet, just my work Teams account which I don't use as much vs Codex. That said, it seems to work good. I'm working on a Skill to have 5.4-pro do a task I normally feed to Codex but TBD on the results.

@Pauliespasta @emollick They're available on ChatGPT Teams at least. Not sure if/when they're coming to ChatGPT as a whole.
