Throughout my career – both as an engineer and as a lawmaker – I have found that community has been key to driving meaningful change. I joined @SWEtalk this morning to talk to women engineers from across the country about how they can rely on their community to shape a future that is more inclusive and innovative for all.

After the tragic midair collision in Washington DC last year, NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy warned that the next collision could take place over Burbank. @FAANews’ latest report revealed a near collision over Burbank earlier this month. This is concerning. Traveler safety must be a priority for FAA. I recently urged FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford for transparency and to let the public know what steps FAA is taking to ensure travelers coming to LA – especially travelers coming to LA for the World Cup and Olympics – can feel safe. I am still waiting for a response.

Gas prices are skyrocketing. Grocery costs are climbing. And doctor’s visits are too expensive. This is all a result of Trump’s war in Iran and working families are paying the price. House Democrats and I are focused on driving down costs for Americans across the country.

I continued the Pi Day celebration in Washington with Policy and Pi! I brought together @amermathsoc, @NASA, an Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow, and @NCTM to talk about the need for making math education more equitable and accessible for all. Of course, no Pi Day panel would be complete without a slice of pie 🥧

From the San Fernando Valley to Washington, D.C., my work to make quality STEM education accessible for students of all backgrounds continues. 💪⚙️ Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. We must invest in opportunities that empower them to pursue any career path they choose.

This photo was taken in LA last week. Because of Trump’s war in Iran, people across Los Angeles are being forced to pay almost $9 a gallon for gas. And across the country, gas has gone up an average of 50 cents/gallon. Donald Trump is using his war in Iran to deflect from his and his Administration's refusal to address the affordability crisis, releasing the Epstein Files, and reining in ICE. House Democrats and I remain focused on lowering costs and making life more affordable for all working Americans.

Happy Pi (3.14) Day! 🥧 I hosted a Pi Bee at Bert Corona Charter School in Arleta to show that math can (and should be) fun. Congratulations to the winner who recited 42 numbers all from memory and earned the honor of pieing the school’s Executive Administrator, Dr. Myers. Thank you to all the students and educators who participated and made this day so special!

To honor Chicano culture, the USPS dropped its first-ever collection of Lowrider stamps! 🚗😎 I’m proud to be from Los Angeles, the birthplace of Chicano culture and where the tradition of cruising in a Lowrider began. The stamps represent our communities and uplift Mexican American heritage for all to celebrate.

I strongly condemn the hateful anti-Muslim statements that Republican members and senators have shared. These statements go against our values and have no place in our country. We must remain vigilant in condemning bigoted statements and actions that divide us.

Every student and family deserves a safe and accessible route to school. I’m proud to secure $250,000 in federal funding for a new crosswalk near Colfax Charter Elementary School in Valley Village. Thank you to @CD2LosAngeles for their partnership in making sure students can get to school safely.

Trump and Hegseth bombed a school in Iran that killed over 170 people, including many young girls. Reports are now saying that this may have been a result of outdated intel. This Administration must be held accountable for the loss of innocent lives. I joined @RepSaraJacobs and over 120 House Democrats to demand answers for these attacks. This Administration is completely incompetent and putting our nation and troops at risk.

Thank you to Fenton Charter Public Schools for honoring me as a Community Leader! Communities like mine in the San Fernando Valley have become targets of Trump’s racist anti-immigrant agenda — impacting students, families, and educators. I am working to ensure that every student can focus on their education and not have to worry about the threats of this Administration.

This crosswalk will help prevent accidents, slow down vehicles, and keep students and families safe.
