For the first time, a Eurasian Otter has been recorded in Pune District, Maharashtra, marking a new chapter in the region’s wildlife history. This discovery, was made possible by a recent rescue operation conducted by RESQ CT and the Pune Forest Department, bringing renewed attention to the biodiversity within our landscapes. Responding to wildlife emergencies often goes beyond saving a single animal—it offers valuable opportunities to gain insights into wildlife species, especially those rarely encountered in the region. Now under rehabilitation at our centre and doing well, this rescued Eurasian Otter presents an exceptional chance to expand our understanding of this elusive species. Additionally, tracking its origins could reveal extraordinary ecological insights, which will be essential in shaping its future. #otters #eurasianotter @resqct @PuneForest @MahaForest @TSatarkar @NachiketUtpat @Resq_EcoEcho @akshay_journo @ranjeetnature @chaitralicMT @tweetsvirat

As we celebrated independence, we’re reminded that freedom is vital for every animal we rehabilitate. The release of a lesser adjutant stork embodies this mission. Thank you to the Maharashtra Forest Department and our supporters for making it possible. resqct.org

Glad you'll called for help in time.. He will hopefully back soon in the skies, once he's rehabilitated and clears his flight tests!

Earlier today, @SuhailSsharma & I spotted a kite unable to fly in the model colony area. He called team @resqct & they were there in no time. It was a young kite who was learning how to fly - it could have been an easy prey - thanks to them it is now safe. @neha_panchamiya

Even the world's fastest bird, cannot outrun the careless threads of human leisure. We've taken over land, we should really spare the skies and ensure they don't become speed traps for gorgeous birds such as this peregrine falcon. #manja is a such menace.

Recently, I had the privilege of revisiting my boarding, the Sahyadri School, (Krishnamurti Foundation India), after 25 years. This school, nestled in Maharashtra's serene landscapes, was instrumental in shaping my essence and returning there was a journey filled with nostalgia and gratitude. This visit wasn't just a walk down memory lane. It served a crucial purpose. The school, deeply embedded in its natural surroundings and conscious of the wildlife cohabiting the area, sought my expertise on its recent leopard movements around the campus. As the founder of @resqct, my team and I, along with our trained wildlife detection dogs, undertook the crucial task of assessing and enhancing safety measures for a harmonious coexistence of wildlife and the school community. It was a heartening experience to see the school's commitment to wildlife conservation and safety, mirroring the values that I hold dear. In these moments of profound connection with nature and my work, I was reminded of Krishnamurti's insightful words: "A mind that is full of conclusions is a dead mind, it is not a living mind. A living mind is a free mind, learning, never concluding." These words reflect the ethos of both Sahyadri School and my journey with RESQ, where learning and adapting are constant, and the conclusions are never final. Our interaction with the wild, our understanding of nature, and our coexistence strategies are continually evolving. This visit, amidst the serene landscapes, echoed another of Krishnamurti's profound statements: "If you as a human being transform yourself, you affect the consciousness of the rest of the world." My time at Sahyadri School was a testament to this transformation, a reminder of our individual and collective roles in shaping a world where humanity and nature thrive together. As I share a few glimpses of this memorable visit, I am deeply reminded of the impact our formative places have on us. The Sahyadri School, with its core values of harmony with nature and continuous learning, continues to inspire and guide many, including myself.

Early morning leopard call mobilized @resqct @PuneForest @PCcityPolice @CP_PCCity @FirePcmc for a rescue in Patil Nagar, PCMC culminating in the successful rescue of a young male leopard that had strayed in the bustling locality of Chikali, PCMC. Responding to a sighting near a wood storage shed, teams tracked the leopard it through to a cattle shed and into a jowar field between the houses. This rescue presented a complex scenario due to the dense vegetation being closely interspaced between residential setting. Today’s operation would not have been successful without… 1. @CP_PCCity support to control crowd at safe distance 2. @FirePcmc Department’s Bronto Skylift 3. @TSatarkar on thermal drone monitoring leopard movements continuously 4. @DrChetanVanjari timely and accurate tranquilisation shot By 10:00 am, the young male leopard was enroute safely to RESQ Wildlife TTC, Bavdhan. A perfect blend of teamwork & tech in wildlife rescue. #LeopardRescue #UrbanWildlife #Teamwork #conservation @NachiketUtpat

This #Python really beat the odds. The way the metal wire was embedded in his body - bizarre! Rescued by Chiplun Forest Department officers, operated and rehabilitated at RESQ TTC, Pune..finally released back where he came from! Wild animals survive the most unreal scenarios if provided help in time.

Listen closely to the voices in this video. It's more than about just releasing one barn owl. A little girl is inspired, a man reflects, and together, they celebrate a shared moment of freedom and resilience. It may have been one bird that they reported to our helpline when they found it flat on the ground, unable to fly - it got rescued, rehabilitated at RESQ and came back right there for its release, but what you can feel in their voices is collective happiness. It's a moment of connection, not just between humans and wildlife but also between generations. It is moments like this that are so close to our hearts at RESQ. This isn't just about one bird; it's a tribute to the precious wildlife that graces our urban landscapes, often unnoticed or forgotten. Let's keep being guardians of nature, making a difference one rescue at a time. 🦉💛 #keepingwildlifewild @resqct #indiaves

🚨Mission 🐆: In an unfortunate series of events, a young leopard attacked four children in Dhule, resulting in the loss of three of their lives, the urgency to address human-wildlife conflict became paramount. Understanding the critical nature of the situation, @resqct Nashik and Pune teams collaborated with the Dhule Forest Department to embark on the challenging mission to safely capture this leopard. For four consecutive days and nights, the teams tirelessly worked and employed every available resource to prevent another incident and catch the leopard safely. The strategy included tracking, camera trapping teams, sniffer dogs, thermal drones, and experienced darters for tranquilization. Our collective efforts paid off when Dr. Chetan Vanjari successfully tranquilized the leopard, demonstrating remarkable skill and persistence under pressure. This achievement was a testament to the collaboration and support from various quarters. This mission, fraught with challenges, was a reminder of the delicate balance between wildlife and human communities. It underscores the need for continued efforts to ensure peaceful coexistence. Watch the video for the full story. The RESQ CT team extends heartfelt gratitude to @MahaForest PCCF(WL) Maheep Gupta, CCF(T) Rushikesh Ranjan, DCF(T) Nitin Singh, DFO Vigilance Rajendra Sadgir, ACF Vinayak Khairnar, and every forest guard for their unwavering faith and cooperation to make this mission a successful one in record time, irrespective of the multiple challenges we faced together. We sincerely thank @Kunal_R_Patil and his team for their trust and support from day 1 and for playing a pivotal role in ensuring community safety while our teams focused on the leopard. A special mention to our incredible team members – Abhijeet Mahale, Ayush Patil (RESQ Nashik Division), @TSatarkar, Eknath Mandal (thermal UAV and visuals team), Kiran Rahalkar, Amit Todkar, and Khandu, our exceptional sniffer dog, for their outstanding fieldwork. Above all, we salute Dr. Chetan Vanjari @DrChetanVanjari for not missing a single dart and not giving up, no matter how hard things got - your determination was crucial in the safe capture of the leopard!
