• changing travel time
• avoiding certain routes
• staying silent
A woman bus commuter in #Hadapsar said, “The bus stop is clean, but I would still not send my daughter here alone.” @_shethepeople

• poorly lit streets
• long walks to bus stops
• deserted areas
• broken or missing footpaths
These everyday conditions shape whether women feel safe using #publictransport.

Cities don’t get congested by accident — they’re designed that way.
While global cities invest in buses, many Indian cities run far fewer per person.
🚌 More buses = fewer vehicles = cleaner air.
It’s time to close the mobility gap.

@parisarpune Late Shri @AjitPawarSpeaks had proposed this idea before the elections. Was it a gimmick? We think there are many good reasons to consider Free Public Transport. Join the webinar to understand some of these ideas!

Is this really a #footpath?
Ambedkar Road shows what happens when design fails:
❓Unsafe to walk
❓No space to cycle
❓Inaccessible for many
How is the footpath in your area? Comment and let us know

@parisarpune As a cyclist myself I realise every time how time-saving a cycle can be! For a student or domestic worker this time (and energy) saving is crucial.
This campaign aims to get cycles to many more who would benefit like this.

#VoteForTekdi #VoteForBus
PMPML ridership is falling — with fewer buses and unreliable service pushing more people toward private vehicles. Instead of pouring money into more roads and flyovers, isn’t it time Pune invested in strengthening its public bus system? Strengthen PMPML.

It's a WIN-WIN!!

The IRC guidelines ensure that #footpaths are #accessible, safe and comfortable for all #pedestrians. But how many of our footpaths adhere to these guidelines?
More on this in our next post where we walk on footpaths of #Pune. Stay tuned!
#MyWalkMyRight #streetdesign

English

@parisarpune @irc_delhi guidelines are very progressive & cities would be well advised to adopt them wholeheartedly. They have legal status under the law. Their use can help transform & make cities #pedestrian friendly. More we understand them the more we can demand for their implementation.

@parisarpune It's official! PMC has launched a footpath repair campaign so we should help by submitting as many complaints as possible.

On Pedestrian Day, one nagging question still remains - how safe are we as #pedestrians? The numbers don't look good, but its time we reclaim our rights to safe, accessible #walking in #Pune.
Support the #MyWalkMyRight campaign, and stay tuned to find out how?
