We need to stop EBT cards and electronic transfers of funds for public assistance programs. Go back to physical manifestations of being on public assistance -- standing in lines, dealing with govt bureaucrats in state and local offices, using a form of payment that requires separate handling from the general public. Make it more INCONVENIENT -- not easier. Then you'll have less of it.

I’m paying over $1000 for 6 months of car insurance for 3 vehicles, one of which is an old Chevy S-10 that receives a low-mileage discount since it’s only used a couple times a month. No teens in the house. Clean driving history for both adults. We’re subsidizing illegal, uninsured drivers.

@emrey35 @JamesSurowiecki They both ran on more liberal policies and "hope" then didn't deliver. They ended up being more centrist in office but they didn't run a centrist campaign.

@JamesSurowiecki This is a horrible take! Joe Biden is a centrist as is Barack Obama and they both won! These candidates didn't lose cause of centrism!

If your analysis of the 2024 election doesn't take into account the fact that a majority of voters thought Harris was too liberal, you can't understand what happened.

Not reading all of that but when is the last time a major acquisition ended up with people keeping their jobs
Yogi@Houseofyogi

Spirit Airlines died tonight at the hands of the socialist crusader, Elizabeth Warren She must be so proud to add another casket to her achievements. Tonight at 3am, Spirit turns off the lights. 14,000 jobs gone. 30+ smaller airports lose service. JetBlue offered $3.8 BILLION in cash to buy Spirit in 2022. Shareholders, flight attendants union, literally everyone voted yes. The combined company would have held 9% of the US market against a Big 4 that already owned 80%. For anyone who understands numbers: 9% isn’t a monopoly against 80%. Warren said no. She wrote letters. She pressured Buttigieg. Biden’s DOJ sued. A federal judge killed the deal in January 2024. Her argument: the merger would cost consumers $1 billion a year. Now look at her collateral damage she dusts under the rug. 510 pilots gone in the months after. 1,800 flight attendants furloughed in December. 14,000 jobs in 2023. 7,500 last week. Zero tonight. And that’s just the people in Spirit uniforms. Catering goes. Fuel guys go. Baggage crews, gate agents, airport coffee shops, hotels and rental cars in 70 cities Spirit flew to. Every airline job carries 3 more on its back. 40,000 people out of work because of one woman’s moronic crusade against the market. And the math ain’t mathing. Spirit abandoned 90 routes during the death spiral. Fares on those routes are up 14% on average. Oakland to Newark: $135 to $288. Fort Myers to San Juan: $92 to $219. Kansas City to Newark up 66%. That’s reality. Not some BS number from a “study.” So @SenWarren tell me how this saves the consumer money? Cheap carriers in a market drop fares 21% across the board. Southwest did this in the 90s and saved Americans $68 BILLION over 20 years. Warren killed it. That’s what moronic politicians led by socialism do. Then with her own blind arrogance, she tweeted Spirit’s collapse is “a Biden win for flyers.” A win. 14,000 people are reading termination letters tonight. And she’s taking credit. This is socialism in 2026. A senator who’s never made payroll thinks she knows how to run a market better than the people who own and work in the company. She saved you a billion on imaginary paper. She cost you ten times that in real life. She didn’t protect consumers from anything. 14,000+ will go from working to welfare. She will make sure to blame billionaires, hardworking tax payers, AI, capitalism and whatever monster they will make up tomorrow hiding under your bed. Higher taxes. Fewer jobs. More expensive everything. She called it a win. I hope you enjoy winning.

My dad called me today “Hey, i’m struggling to pay my property tax for this year. It went up almost $1500 to $8188 for the year versus $6600 for last year. I’m confused, i thought taxes were not to increase for two years. Did yours go up as well? This really sucks! They are trying to drive us out of the state.” My dad is 76 and lives on social security. He’s lived in the same house since 1993. It’s been paid off for two decades. Yet he owes $8k in property taxes, or the state of Texas will take his home. This is criminal

Most people think renting is throwing money away. But the math tells a very different story. You buy a $650K house today. You pay massive interest for the first decade. Then life happens. Data shows most people sell after just 8 to 12 years. You leave with almost zero principal paid down. Renters look at this and laugh. They take the money they save on property taxes and repairs and invest it. They buy index funds or stocks. They build liquid wealth fast without tying cash up in a roof. But buyers have a secret weapon. FORCED SAVINGS. Renting only wins if you put that extra cash into investments every single month. Human nature says most will not do this. They spend it on vacations and cars. A mortgage forces you to build wealth. You wake up 20 years later and that $650K house is worth $1.3M+. Renting saves money in the short term. Owning builds wealth for those who stay long enough. The rule is simple : Do not buy a home unless you commit to living there for 10+ years. Otherwise, rent cheap and buy assets. A house can be your biggest asset or your most expensive liability. The difference is just timing, market, and what you do with the money.

Game Pass Ultimate has become too expensive for too many players. Starting today, we’re dropping the price from $29.99 to $22.99/month. Future Call of Duty titles will no longer join Game Pass Ultimate on day one. They will join this tier the following holiday after launch (about a year later). Current Call of Duty titles will remain available to Ultimate subscribers. We’ll keep learning and evolving Game Pass to better match what matters to players. xbx.lv/4cWO9hR

I’m sorry but I simply don’t see how redistricting a purple state to be almost entirely blue is “democratic”. Half of Virginians vote Democrat, so half of their representatives should be Democrats.

Seeing two responses from the left on this 1) Republicans did it first; which doesn’t make it okay nor is that really true since both sides have been gerrymandering for decades and both sides have escalated the problem 2) Republicans shot down a gerrymandering ban in 2022; which places all of the blame on the Republicans and none on the Democrats who stuffed the bill full of provisions unrelated to gerrymandering How about instead of being tribalistic morons who refuse to believe their party can do any wrong, we all decide to hold our representatives accountable and demand a proper single issue bill? But no, it’s way more fun to feel self righteous isn’t it.
