@MartinSLewis So if a retiree has a Pension pot invested and lives off the interest and dividends the tax rate on all their taxable income has gone up 2%, is that a correct understanding ?

OK I thought my step numbers were ridiculous. This borders on obscene. I am in awe. In the worlds of Wayne and Garth... "we're not worthy, we're not worthy!"

Get over it! Lad, I think you need see the bigger potential picture. Never mind the principle of £2.50/mth MID CONTRACT rise being wrong. That's £30/yr for one mobile, so £120 for a family of four. Yet this taboo breaking move opens the door to other firms to follow. Same on broadband £50, on pay TV £100. So possible £100s a year for a family. And this is all massively over inflation (O2 rise is up to 30%), which could increase inflation itself. Which then has to be factored into pay rises both govt and private sector, and increases govt costs. Small change, big risk!

@Nexo_Whale @MartinSLewis @GMB There should be no mid-contract price rises. Full stop. Otherwise there should be no long-term contracts. What is the point of a contract if one of the parties can renege on their part of the deal whenever they want? You can’t do this with anything else.

Martin Lewis gives O2 & Ofcom both barrels after O2 hikes prices by more than it’d told customers & regulators do nowt to stop it! For full info and how to beat the rise see: moneysavingexpert.com/news/2025/10/o… Courtesy of @GMB

@elliehodges62 That’s terrible. This happened to my cousin recently with @British_Airways. They dismissed the complaint without providing any evidence of an investigation then stopped responding altogether with the arrogance that only a corporate giant can have. Still waiting for justice!

Just got stopped and practically interrogated at Liverpool Street over my ticket. Showed it straight away, but was questioned for 10 minutes because my railcard photo wouldn’t load (no WiFi). She refused to give my ticket back and said she’d “let me off this time.” I HAD A VALID TICKET. This sums up what’s wrong with this country - the people doing things right get hassled, while those who don’t bother just walk through untouched.

@johnpringdns That’s horrific! How we treat our most vulnerable says a lot about who we are as a society. My cousin had a similar dehumanising experience with @British_Airways which left him broken. BA’s response has lacked accountability or empathy — which says a lot about them.#BAaccessFail

A disabled bus passenger and campaigner has been left in a “state of constant fear” after he was shown “dehumanising” and “violent” messages exchanged between drivers that made fun of his weight and even called for him to be shot. disabilitynewsservice.com/bus-companys-u…

@FootballSoc_ @MirrorVeils @BellaWallerstei Actually, the figure is 4.62% of UK estates liable for inheritance tax (HMRC 2022-23), not under 1%, with projections rising to 9.5% by 2029-30 due to frozen thresholds and asset growth. While it impacts a minority, many view it as unfair double taxation on saved wealth.

Inheritance tax should be scrapped, not hiked. UK inheritance tax is now among the highest in the Western world. There’s no such tax in Canada or New Zealand, and where it exists in Europe, it’s usually at a lower rate. It is immoral.
