Today, former SNP Chief Executive Peter Murrell, husband of ex-First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, pleaded guilty in court to embezzling over £400,000 from the party. This isn’t one rogue operator. It’s the latest in a string of scandals for a party that positioned itself as the clean, principled alternative. Funds allegedly went into a luxury motorhome, cars, jewellery, cosmetics, and more, while hundreds of thousands raised for independence campaigning went missing. Compare that to the Tories. Yes, they had sleaze in fact they where Sleaze Central with Partygate, dodgy contracts, lobbying. But the SNP lectured from the high ground. Now we see: • A major police investigation that swept up the party’s former leader, treasurer, and CEO. • A culture of apparent unaccountability at the top while member donations vanished. Scotland deserves better than this hypocrisy. Real accountability and transparency are long overdue. The SNP’s problems run far deeper than the Tories’ at their worst.
